Its CINGULAR... Not Singular.... The first letter is C Not S....

Secondly, you just need to give them time to blend everything together. These things take time. The melding is going to take about a year...

Look up ... see that funny orange skull-n-crossbones? See the word just to the right of it? Notice how that regestered tradmark is spelled? That has been brought to you by the letter "C".

As far as the merger goes, "most" systems should be finished within two to three years. One project to to get rid of all the TDMA customers that BOTH companies had. Then we can move on to yet another billing system when UMTS starts to get a full roll-out.

i agree. 50 million customers and has the most complaints in 2004. that shouldnt happen. also having a lot of trouble becuase of the merger. i dont care if it has to do with tdma and gsm it looks like a lack of planning with the top execs when they thought out the merger and integration processes.

i definitely agree that this merger has been very ill-planned. but unfortunately there really isn't anything we can do about it. we're not the ones running it, so what we say means nothing.

i guess we'll just have to wait it out and hope it gets better.

yea, thats true. i just think the execs should have thought a bit better with this situation. i dont like to hear excuses ya know. its kinda not fair to customers, and shareholders of the company. (sbc and bls) i am actually very dissapointed of how long this integration has been taking and how many problems there are.

i would have just left the att wireless network going for another year or 2 and just made sure that there will be a seamless and smooth transition from the att wireless' network to the cingular network.

now, i dont exactly know, but not like this, becuase this isnt working out.

You're pretty thickheaded about this, aren't you? The transition is over. It's been over. There's a little polishing going on here and there. But the transition's over. Where've you been? Mars?

thats no excuse, my friend. something of this magnitude should have been thought more carefuly. there is no excuse to have this many problems with the merger or any merger unless they didnt plan it right which shows that cingular's execs are not that great.

it's not like there's a formula for a merger. i mean, if you could just go to a book store and get a "merger for dummies" handbook i'm sure the execs would have. case in point, they don't have one, so they're trying to learn as they go.

xoxo

ps. can't wait for all the sprint customers to call in and say they want to switch over to cingular because the sprint merger is going so bad.

or you'll get lucky and it'll go well, who knows.

I can tell you this, not officialy, but i can tell from working on the inside, everything WAS done with a purpose, it is being made "legally hard as possible" to make the att customers switch over to cingular, through everything from plans and promos expiring and equipment upgrade options to network options, all thats been in accordance with FCC guisdelines and rules.

Eerything will get better once people are off the "legacy blue side" and with our recent changesin policy, that will happen more quickly then before.

so many excuses.

very easy to do this... plan things when they were talking with the fcc.

1. talk about leaving their networks seperate then talk about how they are going to do the migration/integration and things like that.
2. talk about promotions
3. talk about advertisments.

etc..

it seemed like they thought about their advertisments way more then the intergration/migration of the networks, which is pathetic.

again, they did a horrible job planning this.

its that easy.

by law they arent allowed to do it before the merger gets oked, however, they are allowed to discuss it.

the biggest problem with what you're saying is that you assume that they didn't do any of that. truth of the matter is, we have know idea what they did or didn't plan for this merger. they could have talked everything out perfectly and made what might have seemed like a fool-proof plan. but when it came time to actually do the merger they ran into all sorts of problems. nobody's perfect, and with two different phone companies with different promotions, different rate plans, and different ideas, it gets very hard to combine the two without running into problems. cingular wants to keep the customers they have happy, and also try to offer something to the former AT&T customers so they don't feel like they're losing everything the had previously...

Let's dance around this some more! Dudes, there was lot's of planning done. You think that with that much money floating around and lots of examples of mergers done wrong that they wouldn't perk up and take notice? But let's get real. Anyone remember the total disaster called Siebel that gutted AT&T? That wasn't a merger, that was a friggen software update. I'm ex-blue and I remember three-hour calls day after day for nearly six months. Did anything like that happen during the merger? NO!

So before you trot out your "they didn't plan the merger" myth, stop and take a look at what's actually happening. Oh yeah, we dropped all of the sweet deals for blue customers. Why? Cingular wants ONE system with ONE class of customers. If you think thi...

I have asked Nextel and other what they would do differently and they generally have no real answer.

I personally think Cingular is doing a fine job with this. Could there be improvements, probably. Could it be worse, absolutely!

Bottom line is they could not do any sigfnificant planning pre-merger without facing significant sanctions from SEC, Justice Dept. and others. The laws are the laws. They had some basic courses of action devised but that was the extent of the planning. No one here can offer anything solutions as to what could have been done different w/o tremendous additional cost.

Botton line is Stan (or Satan as some have said hehe) is a pretty smart guy and those who work for him are also pretty smart people. For a...
