From Chicago to New York

HeroPsychoDreamer

May 9, 2005, 11:29 AM
Recently I drove from Chicago to New York, then back. In all the way Cingular kept up with me when it came to having a good signal. Most of the trip I had full bars, sometimes not, and I lost service 2 times.

Keeping in mind that most of the drive was through very rural areas, the service was impressive!

Actually, we were using my phone, it's a Sony Ericsson S710a. She used to use an x427m, when I got my S710a I gave her my T637 so she uses that now.

As for fun, yeah we had so much fun, it was great. That was my first time seeing Niagara Falls in person, it was spectacular.

BTW... What is your opinion of the Z500a? My dog ate my V220 (pics on my blog)

A friend of mine has had his z500 for a little over a month now and the screen has crapped out on him. It is like half blue and half white. Supposedly this is some sort of a common problem. So I would be wiery of getting the z500. Look into getting the Nokia 6230.

It also could have been a bad batch of phones and Sony Ericsson would replace it under manufacturers warranty.

I'm thinking so because my friend has a Z500 and it's been working just fine since she first got it.

Yeah but the Cingular store wont swap it out on the spot like we thouht they would. He has to call this number then send his phone in and they will overnight him another one. It sounds like a pain in the @$$ if you ask me. I dont know why they just wouldnt swap it out in the store. But your right it could be just a bad batch but to get a replacement is a hassle.

The reason is because the store has a limited stock. They cannot remove it from their sales stock. If it were within the first 30 days they would be able to (as long as you got it at a store). Im sure there are other reasons but I dont know them all.

HPD, your screen name is a song title, right? I remember noticing it this weekend when I was organizing my iTunes, but I don't remember the band. Sorry if this has been brought up before.

I could pronounce it, but that Samadhi word was outside of my typing vocabulary and I knew I couldn't rely on spell check to tell me.

I think the Z500 is a nice peice of equipment, it's got some cool features at a not so high cost.

It surely would have been the phone for me had it had Bluetooth, that's a feature I can't do with out, well, I can, but I dont want to lol.

The Z is a good choice

I want a phone that will be about $150. I was thinking about the 3650 for the bluetooth, but the phone is sooooo bulky.

I just got the media basic pkg. It include unlimited MMS til 12/31/05. 😁 😁 😁

That's a pretty good deal!

I'm sure there are plenty of phones under $150 w/ Bluetooth.

Yes you can find them... used. I dont liek to buy used. I can buy a New-In-Box z500a for around $149. With the unlimited MMS, i think i will be ok without BT.

i'd say definitely go with the Z500. i have it and can talk about it all day. if you're looking for a inexpensive phone with bluetooth i'd say go with the V551.

but it's motorola, so consider yourself warned.

I currently own a Moto V220. I like it alot. Moto arent bad... they just have a bad rep. People talk alot of crap because they are difficult to use.

i actually didn't find the interface that difficult to use. in fact i found it easier to use my friend's V220, than my Z500. but once i got it down i definitely prefered the Z500. i guess my biggest problem with motorola is the fact that the LED screens have been cracking a lot recently and i've been getting way too many customer complaints (i'm in sales, mind you) so i guess i'm biased.

that and my friend just switched out his V220 for his old Nokia 3120.

just my opinion and from what i've heard, but if your's still works great, that's awesome! i really do hope you don't have any problems.
🙂
