I was told by Cingular today that you could not gat insurance on the SONY s 710a, V3, SAMSUNG P777 or any of the TREO's or any of the BLACK BERRYs what the hell is up with that.
I think I will stick to my V400 at least it had insurance on it. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Its not Cingular, its the insurance company lockline- a subsidiary of C&A insurance.

They determine the eligibility list of what to insure, they do it based on their "bean counters" for example

V3 the replacement cost is $199.99, so based on that phone, there is likely gonna be a claim, so $3.99X12 months=$47.88 to get a $199.99 phone, same deals with blackberry's ,and P777, even the treo's or the MPX-220.

They would l...

Remember when buying any insurance. you are betting you will need the insurance.....The insurance company is betting you won't. The insurance companies have the second largest bulidings in big cities behind banks,,,,They are winning the bets bigtime.

Insure yourself. Buy two phones.....or don't put your expensive phone in jeopardy of being lost , stolen, or damaged. You do have total control of that not happening and will save $50 a year to put towards a new phone.

I never bought even a service contract on anything in 25 years. Tvs, cars computers, appliances. etc and with the money I have saved I could replace most of those items easily.

I think lockline won't insure devices for cingular that are retailed at over $400, at least thats the way it was when I worked for at&t. It is not a total lockline thing though, because you can insure any device through lockline with verizon. I think their insurance may be $1 more then cingular and there is a $50 deductible (for any device).

yeah, then they took your insurance away, if someones add insurance to a phone that is not covered under their insurance, and if they took payment for the monthly premium at least 1 full month, they will process the claim then take your insurance off.if you don't believe call an ask lockline, its true.

No, I had insurance for 9 months before I filed my first claim. So I still have one more claim to file if the need arises.

If you work for Cingular, look in the CSP Lockline is covering the phone. this isn't rocket science.

you can file two claims within a 12 month period, after that they take off the insurance.

I just went into CSP there is no warranty info, it just states : Filing a Replacement Claim:

Customer must call Cingular Wireless Customer Service at 1-866-246-4852 and request a temporary suspension of service due to lost, stolen or non-functional wireless phone.
A customer must call lock\lineร‚ยฎ at 1-888-562-8662, and has 60 days from the date of the loss to file a replacement.
We recommend that the customer report the lost or stolen wireless phone to the police and obtain a police report.
Customers are allowed to file a maximum of 2 replacements in a 12-month period.
To obtain a copy of the insurance policy or for additional information ...

You can get any jackass rep, who does not care about their job, to add on insurance, a rep worth his pay will check to make the phone is eligible for it first. That being said, the first time you file a claim, they will process it for you because they have taken at least 1 monthly premium, then after the claim is processed, they take your insurance off, since that phone S710a is not on their insurable list!!!!

That much is not much,i mean you pay $50.00, get a refurbished phone(used, reconditoned), and lose your insurance, and on top of all that, that phone has 90 day warranty, then you got nothing.

If i were you, being a rep, i'd cancel put that money you were spending off to the side- $4.00 a month, then use the money to get a upgrade down the road, at least when you do that the phone will have a new 1 year with upgrade.

steve man listen , a sales person will tell you anything to sell you that phone! I promise that phone is not covered . If you have insurance and are paying for it then 1 of 2 things will happen lockline will process the claim and then remove it , or cingular will process an in house replacement through xbm I've seen that happen plenty of times because lockline insurance is generally not very helpful and pretty damn rude

ok maybe it is but what im saying is i have a lost from lockline that is dated 5-1-05 and it gives a list of phones that cant be insured through them and the 710 is on that list maybe they have changed that policy in the last 10 days, also why whould that be an insurable phone when the v3 is 200 dollars cheaper than the sony and its not insurable ? that is the reason that lockline does not insure certain phones is because they are too expensive if you look at cingular .com and go to phones lockline stops at the v551 that is the most expensive phone that they insure

For the last time the s710a has been covered by Lockline since Cingular sent out the spec and press sheet in the CSP mid February. I recieved my s710a on March 21st, and I filed a claim on 4-4. So no the policy hasn't changed. You are carrying around old information.

Yes the RAZR is less expensive, but there is more of a buzz on this phone than the s710a. That is why the don't insure it. Everyone and their brother with one would file a ton of "lost" claims. It is too much of a liability.

That number is to cingular customer service, the phone is not eligible, you can get them to add it on, if you get a dumbass rep, but when you tryo file a claim, they will approve it then remove it off.

If someone already notes on the acount that you are not eligible then they won't even process your claim, they will simply remove it, thats why it takes 24-48 hours to process the claim.

No the number listed is the published number to file a claim for Lockline. That number is put in all lockline brochures that explains terms and conditions of coverage. It should not be market dependent.

It didn't take me 24 hours to get my new s710a. It took 30minutes. I walked into to the Tollway RSO and once they entered the Lockline portal, there I was. I still have another claim left, and there are no notes on my account to reflect the removal of coverage.

You can continue to tell your customers it is not covered. I'll tell mine otherwise.
