I know that Cingular had both in Alabam but can anyone tell me if I go with a 1900 onlly phone how that will change my service. In other words what part of AL has 850 and what part has 1900 or does all areas of Al have both?

hey, i would NOT recommend you get a 1900 meg phone only ! Are system is mainly 850 the main reason we got the 1900 band is to allow customers to roam on tmobiles system i would at the minimum recommend a tri band phone

I hate to have to correct you, but we did not get 1900 so we could roam off T-Mobile. When we were getting most of our 1900 spectrum, Cingular was still using TDMA. The 850 band started getting crowded and FCC opened up that for more spectrum. Notice that T- Mobile ONLY uses it, they came in the game to late to get 850 approval, kind of the same with Sprint, they just chose to use 1900 only. Most of our 850 came from old school providers and our own parent company holdings. And why would you recommend at least a tri-band phone if his questions is about 1900 or 850, a third band would be for international roaming, so unless he is going to the other side of the world that tri band won't help any...

OK first of all that was my personal advice.I don't need your 2 cents. The reason why i recommended at least a tri band phone is because they tend to be nicer than than dual band phones . don't you agree that a tri or quad band is nicer than the dual band ?.So with that said you sir can kiss my ASS !

No thanks. I'll leave that up to your boyfriend. And, as I said his question was 850/ 1900... and we actually have some nice phones that are dual band... and again, my reason for posting was to correct information that was not accurate...
there's my 2 cents... keep the change...
