When I activated service with AT&T, I had to put down a $200 deposit. When I migrated to Cingular, my final bill with AT&T was $99.54. The deposit paid that final bill & generated a credit of $100.46. They finally applied the remaing credit balance to my Cingular account. My monthly charge is usually around $125. My bill this month is $23.24 😁

So you let ATT/Cingular borrow $200 - interest free. Good job.

$200 isn't bad credit. that's a lot better than a lot of the deposits i see over here. you want bad credit? try telling a customer this:

"congratulations! you've been approved for service with Cingular Wireless. We'd just require a $750 deposit in order to get that set up for you today. do you have a credit or debit card you can put that on today?"

yeah right. see how quickly they hang up.

my deposit for $500, i'm only 22 and it was mostly because i didn't have ENOUGH credit built up. just stupid loans and such.

man. then i definitely envy you and your good credit.

eh, it didn't matter to me. i got my service with cingular set up 4 years ago, paid the deposit and it was like a nice little bonus check a year later (which was good since i had taken a different job and gotten a pay cut) so it worked out well for me. plus they gave me a free nokia phone! Oh Em Gee! how nice of them! cingular gives out free stuff! free free free!

hehe

That's not true. It can register a deposit for not having any. I got mine when I was 18 and had absolutely nothing to my name and I paid $300. It is considered a "risk" and that is why they wast a deposit for little or no credit.

most people that come up as a "risk" it will honestly post on my screen "limited credit info" which means they don't have any credit built up. that's usually for 18 year olds that first start up service.

you're lucky you only got hit with a $300. most of the kids i get end up with the lucky $750.

I dont have bad credit, not that it is any of your business.... but you are wrong. Yes, if you do have bad credit that also requires a deposit.

That is the problem with you guys... see that a customer had to pay a deposit & automatically assume that they have bad credit. This is not always the case

I am only 22 & have NO credit. I do not want a credit card right now. I pay for everything with my Debit card If i want something, I save the money for it. This is exactly the way I have always done it & paid cash for my car, cell phone, EVERTHING I OWN.

For you to judge me so quickly shows how much of a buffoon you can be Temp.

Don't you love it when long forgotten credits come back to kiss you on the cheek?
