Has anyone who acctually works for cingular heard something to the effect that we will only sell bar style phones by Nokia? I read this on another board but it seems a rather broad agreement

I don't see that happening. We're the carriers, without us. Nokia's phones are pretty much shiny paperweights.

Besides, having a wide selcection is a mark of pride for most carriers. It's how they overcompensate since they can't own Humvees or get into extreme sports.

Your joking, North America is drop in the bucket for Nokia, they make their REAL MONEY in Europe and Asia.

Anyone with 50 million+ subscribers is going to have a little "pull" with the manufacturers.
If Cingular has such an agreement with Nokia, I haven't heard of it. As a matter of fact, there are some Nokia flips coming shortly from Cingular from what I have heard.

the agreement exists, and just means that the only BAR phones we will sell will be Nokia, not that we CAN'T sell Nokia flip phones 😉

COR stores do not though... We stopped carrying anything other than Nokia bar phones in February, the 15th I believe. Only exception to that rule is the PDA devices or the Blackberry devices. 😁

we do have that agreement with nokia. that's why we stopped selling the Sony Ericsson T237. siemens is pulling out of the north american market anyways, so we'll stop selling those soon as well.

i know because people got reprimanded on my floor for selling the T237.

What??????

Please correct me if I am wrong but I am interpreting your statement to say we ONLY sell Nokias in store and that other brands are available online.

If that was your intent you are very incorrect.

From what I've heard from my Nokia rep, Cingular did sign an exclusivity contract with Nokia for candy bar style phones. So in other words, Nokia is the only manufacturer of candy bar style phones that Cingular will carry from here on out. All other brands arre at their end of life, so once they are sold out they are gone.
