I just bought a Motorola a780 Smartphone. I currently have the MediaWorks package on my s710a. Can I use that same package to browse the internet and email on my Motorola or do I have to get a PDA Data plan? Let me know what I should do...Thanks 😳

Believe he is right, the smartphones can use the media net, so that would be right.

The Motorola a780 has full HTML browsing. Type in a780 in the JUMP section and check it out. What do you recommend Jackie? I'll be using the browsing capabilities a little bit each day probably so I dont need an unlimited data plan. Any suggestions would help.

I would keep you Media WORX plan unless you have an issue not being able to get onto different sites that you want... Then I would change... $19.99 5MB, $29.99 10 MB are two other options if you feel that you don't need the unlimited for the $39.99 😁

Do the PDA packages include txt messaging and mms? Or do I have to add those separately?

Seperately, that's why I would keep what you have for now and if it causes you issues then switch. 😁

OK so to sum it all up...
I will have a Moto a780 which is a smartphone. The current data package I have now is MediaWorks for $19.99/mo. I should have no problems browsing the internet (full HTML) on this phone with the current package I have correct?

Wouldnt it be more wise to jump up to the Unlimited package for $24.99? What is the difference between that and the PDA unlimited package? (besides the text/mms) Sorry if I seem to be asking the same questions but I just want to make sure because I will have the a780 tomorrow and want to get everything straight.

Media NEt does not full HTML, BUT you can still use it. What I would do is when it comes in try it out and see if it works okay, if it does not, email me and let me know and we can chat about things otherwise 😁

My opinion is that the Media Works, PDA/BB connect and unlimited internet (for PC cards) are priced based on an "expected" amount of data use.

Using a higher than expected amount of data consistantly may bring up a red flag. Using the Media Works package should be ok for now, but dont't be surprised if you are required to bump up to the PDA connect. I would also frequently check your bill to ensure they don't charge you for data usage per KB rather than including it in your plan.

Media Works is designed for the browsers built into basic handsets. I am not familiar with your handset but if you use a version of windows with a version of IE they you probably should use PDA connect.

Doesn't hurt to keep the Media Works at the lower p...

I do not think he will have a problem the billing system does not know the differance. Tghe only reason there is that PDA plan is to get more ARPU.

Just like if a customer uses more than 50% of their airtime as "roaming" this too might be audited. It doesn't happen often but it is better to say "be on the lookout" then say he has absolutely nothing to fear.

I agree though that he probably won't have any issue.

I just went through a data training session with Dave Hanks, who is the Cingular data guru for the Southeast (maybe a larger area, I dont know), and according to the information he put out, the PDA data plans open up the EDGE/GPRS network to faster access than the MEdia Net packages. Using compression and acceleration technologies, the PDA data plans are at least 2x as fast as MEdia Net access. Hope this helps.
