I hate cingular. They are THE most scandalous company to have service with. That cute little cingular jack is really the devil incarnate. But at least you can "rollover" the un-used you can't use cause the networks all messed up since we merged with at&t. BUT. They can still repent. Change the name, with the entire corporate infrasturture and keep the technolgy and it will work.
Thats another thing. We claim to have the best handsets in our cingular advantage. I'm sorry (with the exception of a few ones that are sick as as all hell)but the phones that sprint and T-mobile carry clown on ours. Even the free ones they have our better than ours. Our upgrade policy sucks. Ok mr customer who has been with us for years when your contract is up ...

Those who hate Cingular's policies always seem to get them and/or the competition's policies wrong. I wonder if the ignorance is a contributing facotr to their frustration or are they just bitter people to begin with?
Coming from a company where both Verizon AND Cingular were sold I can tell you that your understanding of the upgrade policies are incorrect.
Verizon offers special deals to certain customers, as does Cingular. The higher end handsets are sold at no lower price than is available to a new customer. Verizon does have more variation in price from store to store than does Cingular, so that may contribute to your experiences.

I will say one thing I like about Cingular over my current carrier is the upgrade program...far superior than Sprint!

That, and even if T-Mobile has slightly better phone deals. I've seen the coverage maps, they have two towers.
