Curious.
Recently reading of Cingular's many network outages really came as a shock to me. Knowing that they are undertaking an incredible task of combining the old ATTWS network with the current Cingular network, I still do not believe that such problems are solely due to the integration. When Maverick posted about an outage in Chicago & Chicagoland someobody had thrown out the idea that Cingular may be purposely shutting down the networks for upgrades. However, Maverick replied saying that a friend of his called customer service to find what the problem was and the rep insisted that they had no idea what was wrong with the network.
With all of that said, I've come to realize that most of the outages have been in some major metro areas. Areas...

Honestly I'm not sure about in those areas, but I do know that starting this month in Florida and working up through Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi they are very aggressively removing TDMA transmitters and doing everything they can to get those customers to switch. If they were testing 3G, they wouldn't have to shut down the network. Remember that every carrier goes through outages, but so much attention has been paid to Cingular over the last 6 months that it get blown out of proportion sometimes. Yes there are integration issues, but I believe in parts out west it's more moving customers from T-Mobile than combining blue and orange.
