6230i - some straight answers please

I was told this phone is available now. Can anyone concur?
I was also told the price was to drop from 139 to 99 on June 1st with the new rates coming out.
This info came from my Cingular rep in the St. Louis MO area.

I found elsewhere on this site the supposed 6230i was really a 6230 with new software.

Can someone give me some good information please on this phone?

thanks Kevin

No the 6230i is not slated for Cingular. The 6230 with ENS is. Basically it is the same as the old 6230 with enhanced network selection as long as you have a 64k SIM.

Your rep is wrong, the 6230i has the mp camera and a few other enhancements. That phone will not be here until late summer or early fall as it was just realeased in Europe a few weeks ago.

As for the price drop.....perhaps. I haven't seen June's phone pricing, yet.

I have them in store, just arrived today. They come with the Norah Jones sample set. Pretty cool.

Can you look at the phones and tell us what the display and camera specs are of the the phone? That will determine the model number.

What exactly is ENS and will it help me in the St. Louis MO area?

thanks Kevin

It is not the 6230i with the enhanced camera. The camera on this handset is standard VGA quality.

ENS will hep you because your phone will choose the best tower for signal quality.

ENS will put you on the network with the least amount of traffic... load balancing.

Hmmm,

That's not what we were told in our network meeting. This was one of the many meeting we have with the engineers when they visit West Texas to give us a tower and overall network update.

Thanks for straigtening this out.
I have asked several Cingular reps around St. Louis over the last few weekds and was very clear that I was wanting the 6230i, not the older version and they were telling me the phone should be available in a few weeks, so now it has been a few weeks and the old phone is back in circulation....ughh!

Are all the people I am talking to confused, or is Cingular mis-labling this phone as the new version or what?

I unfortunately do not see the 6230i on the nokiausa.com web site, It is out on ebay and is being sold in Europe and England.
Does anyone have any info on if/when it will be in the USA?

thanks Kevin

For your case I don't know. I was lied to.

I ordered one directly from Cingular, or so I thought, only to discover the phone was not a 6230i as the representative so adamantly assured me it was.

Read all about it if you like:

I talked to a Nokia rep about the 6230i and he stated something I had read elsewhere but did not believe (want to believe)...
On the Nokia USA website there is a "coming out soon" section and if the phone is on that page the phone should be available 3-5 months! No if ands or buts about it. The 6230i is NOT on that page so there fore the phone will not be available for a long time. The page is updated as new models are scheduled.
So no one should expect this phone any time soon.

So can some one tell me who/why/how Cingular was telling me this phone was available?

thanks Kevin

It wasn't just the 6230 the current version still in release!
