I currently have a V400 with Cingular and a Blackberry with T-Mobile. Not happy with my reception on the v400, so had considered a new phone. My thought was to maybe ditch both the phone and blackberry and got with the Treoa 650. Any suggestions on thsi thought? How does the email features of the Treo 650 compare to tbe Blackberry? Any drawbacks if I switch?

If i dont get rid of my Blackberry, what suggestions do you have for a new phone to replace my v400? I need better reception (my reception sux at my house/home office) and while travelling for business as I use mine as my main business line. I would like Bluetooth, poly ring tone capable, easy to use, good volume (both ringer and speaker), web acceess is fine.

Any suggest...

Miked, I love my Treo 650.

The built in versamail client does everything I need, but one (free) app you would need to download immediately is called file z. Sometimes databases become corrupted, and you have to delete them for the app to run without crashing. If you have file z you can fix it yourself in less that 15 minutes, without file z you're looking at a clean reinstall of the app.

The Treo also supports VPN, so if your email is secured if can still be accessed, but you'll have to get your tech rep to set it up for you. I also do not know the tmobile rates for data, but it will cost you an additional $40 a month on your cingular phone to have the unlimited data.

The biggest difference besides OS, is the blackberry email c...

The Blackberry is only "push" if you have a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES).

That is not correct. You can set up your blackberry on their website to push up to 10 email accounts. That is why you pay extra for the BB connect versus the PDA connect.

You can also simulate the same thing on your TREO since you can set the email to check for new messages as often as you like. Uses up more data (not much, each check for possible email is a few Kb) but if you on an unlimited plan it won't matter.

Isn't the webclient just a pull based solution that checks every minute or so?

How would Blackberry be able to push the e-mails without access to the actual e-mail server?

If your email client is set up by RIM, then the email client will push thru the emails to each blackberry, but for this to work right it does have to be set up by RIM, this also gives access for anyone with this set up to use their company email from the blackberry to send or recive. 😁 Hope this helps.

Hey Ralph does the Treo 650 support HTML or xHTML. I think xHTML is so lame. I'm a little spoiled after playing with my friends SIDEKICKII 😉
