WHAT'S THIS PHONE NUMBER?

repCB

May 28, 2005, 5:59 PM
A co-worker of mine just got a customer on the line who had about $20 in overage charges, most calls made to 800-606-1282 repeatedly in one day. The customer denied ever calling that number, saying that she was getting a facial that day (no pun intended, I hope). However, when the rep offered to call the number to see what it was, the customer suddenly had her memory jogged and agreed to pay the charges before dropping the call.

So out of curiousity, we tried calling that number, but we're unable to connect from work or our employee phones. So I gotta wonder, what is this number?

Go to anywho.com and click on reverse lookup. It's what we always use when someone disputes a number. Our fraud department told me about that website.

In the call center I work in, we're only able to access work related websites aka only sites having to do with telephone stuff...google not being one of them, let alone any search engine beyond csp. Anywho.com has been a godsend over the past couple of years for me...just some advice from my own personal experience.

I was able to access that, but some people on my team were not. The security restrictions on their specific PC wont allow it.
