differences in pay? how can we make it better?
how bout a union? oh yeah we are the only company with 1. 5300 employees in districts 1,2,4,7,9&13 paying an average of 400 yr in dues.thats 2.1 million $'s every year. so they can make us the lowest paid company in wireless.

With the new contract the base wage did go up big time for sales. The call center reps are still screwed

exactly, it is ridiculous. they need to lower at & t's reps base salary, that would make things more fair.

The inside sales representaives top pay went up by 25% but over the corse of the contract. The raise is 11% over four years. Which is actually less than the last union contract.I voted no on this union contract I felt it was a step back for all of us. I wanted to strike I would have been glad to strike.

I GUESS WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO IS WE PAY THIS UNION ALOT OF OUR $ TO STEP IN FOR US AND GET US PAID. THE REALITY OF IT IS THEY DONT. WE ARE THE LOWEST PAID CELLULAR COMPANY AND WE PAY THIS UNION MILLIONS OF $'S TO MAKE US THIS WAY. I BELIEVE THE UNION GETS IN THE WAY. DO U EVER HERE OF THEM EVER DOING ANYTHING FOR US? I WAS IN THE CWA WHEN I WORKED FOR ANOTHER COMPANY AND THEY WHERE GREAT WE HAD GREAT PAY GREAT BENEFITS. IT JUST DOESNT SEEM TO WORK FOR THIS BUSINESS. IT SEEMS TO HOLD US BACK. LIKE I SAID IN A MESSAGE BEFORE...TALK TO REPS THAT WERE HERE BEFORE THE UNION, EVERYONE HAS LOST MONEY THANKS TO THEM.

I am not pro-union nor am I againist the union. I no that the union has protected us in the call center at times from B.S managers. The realtionship between reps and managers in the call center is horrible. The mangers feel the reps do not do their jobs and the reps feel the same way about their managers. The reps that were at Cingular before the union say that the pay is lower but the hours are better. Cingular had some call center reps working mandatory 10 hour shifts. I belive that if Cingular call center reps felt they could trust management to be professional and fair CWA would be a memory.

i guess the pro's and con's need to be wieghed out....make $10,000 less a year and only work eight hour days or get paid...but we come from 2 different positions within the company. on the sales end i wish i could work overtime im all about the $'s but im restricted to only 40\hrs. but also i respect your position highly taking call after call of whining complaining customers for 8 \hrs a day would make anyone go mad. we both play important roles to make this company what it is. maybe there should be two seperate unions for cs and sales. the union doesnt work for sales. the company controls our payouts and they control our quota's the union controls nothing except the collection of dues.

you cant blame a union for taking an offer because a lot of stuff is bad, thats all cingular was willing to do. so you know it would be a lot worse without it.

I do not think seprate unions is the answer right now. Us CSR's are under attack right now are ojbs are on the line right now. Cingular ranking last in customer service is not helping us justify increases in pay. The sales team continues to do a great job judging by add-ons. Cingular cusotmer service is going through major changes that could be good for everyone inclusing the removal of reps that avoid work on calls. We our fighting a uphill battle because Cingular has too many store to many call centers and to many customer service reps and to many sales reps. They are enjoying a lot of leverage a lot more leverage than
Verizon has.

if you think about it, the former att reps jobs are only safe till the end of the year. Then its highly likely we will get the boot, if you dont join the union. We have no real job security.

I do not think anybody's jobs are safe. I was just stating that Cingular has a lot of leverage more leverage than any other cellular company.

blue reps going first is not necessarily true especially if they are good sales people on the blue side

Very true. It is just a matter of time before the debate will be over as the cuts are going to have to happen soon enough. Waste of money to keep all the employees and the merger happened awhile ago now.

For what reason would an orange rep be fired? Dont foregt that we are "at will" employees, we have no union contract, NO job security, so if they need to make cuts, we would be the easiest target.

i have already seen orange employees let go. if we as blue reps make and exceed our quota then there is no reason to let us go.

But I also think you have to consider the benefits that each company gives their employee. If one company have really good health care that is worth $500 a month w/ low copays, ect and the higher salaried company had so/so health care worth $300 a month with higher out of pocket cost- then wouldn't it be almost the same? Just a thought.

I think the bottom line is it is best for some people to leave Cingular because of the low pay. Some poeple it is best for them to stay because the benefits are good. I just am making the point that if Cingular wireless is serious about being best in class wireless company. They need to be competitive on all levels inlcuding pay.
