Who just got laid off? (blue side)

Cingular Wireless just closed 8 Blue legacy stores in the region where I work.

They laid off all the people in these stores.

They gave these people the option to work for Cingular.. if they quit and reapply. From what I gather via the several managers, this would entail them to start again at the minimum wage on orange side.

Their other option is to take a severance and sign a Non-Compete agreement. (can't get another wireless job for 1 year)

All the layoffs were in Blue side!!!

Whats the deal???

Well, considering Cingular does not pay minimum wage that is not accurate.

What if it was worded, that they would start at Convergys' minimum wage? Which means they are treated as if they have no experience and are new employees.

Well, considering we are talking about retail stores, and NOT convergys, your point has no merit.

You are also speculating that he meant Cingular's starting pay and not actual minimum wage. Considering his statement was heresay we are not aware of what the manager actually said or meant.

Either way, these employees would not be receiving minimum wage nor anything close.

Eh, I don't believe that non-compete stuff. It's just a scare tactic but they can't enforce it. At least I've never seen them enfore it and I've worked with one carrier before coming to my current job and I signed the agreement years ago. Seriously, how can they tell you that you can't work for another carrier?? You have the experience with that type of work and that type of field and you can't work there because of a piece of paper?? I don't buy it as anything but a scare tactic.

Well everyone thought that Cingular will bring better things to AT&T since the merger happened, but all that happened were problems, and headaches. People thought that since Cingular merged that the 50 million M2M bull crap would be something major if they switched to Cingular but headaches. I think Cingular should get charged with false-advertising. Thank God I am a T-Mobile customer. Cingular is lowering the bar on their employees, customers, and their image. Making people lose their good AT&T plans and threatening them to buy a Cingular phone in order to keep good coverage. I think Cingular is a joke, and soon their deceitfull ways will backfire.

Cingular workers should go on strike.

Perhaps you should just praise T-Mobile instead of bashing Cingular?

I would really like to know what region these lay-offs are happening in because I know in our region Blue Legacy stores are here to stay and have offered merely more locations to help with the already large Cingular customer base.

The box has a point even if it is not sugar coated... Why not just be a litle more constructive on this point and get back to the debate on hand. Does anyone know which region is facing these kind of lay offs and if someone from corporate might be able to post some anonymous information?

Cingular has BAD customer service, and I have heard that people have left cause of that issue.

Thank god your a T-mobile customer wow I never have thought to thank god for T-mobile.I am nopt a fan of any cell phone company I think they all are greedy pigs T-mobile is no better they would raise prices but their coverage area is to small to get away with it. I work for Cingular and I did a post about network integration I have been following the progress and a ot of progress has been made. I spoke with network services and they were very upset about the more bars and in more places ads. I agreee that those ads are not very honest and the raising the bar thing will happen SBC and Bellsouth are going to make Cingular change they want their 41 billion dollar cash loan back.

People that I know can't stand Cingular, and would have loved to stay with AT&T Wireless. I hope Cingular gets their act together, cause they might be facing a lawsuit if they can't prove to have really raised the bar. Does Cingular treat you with respect and courtesy? I heard that they raised the expectations and quota to unreachable levels.

I am in custoemr service and they ahve been pushing us to the brink of sanity. With all of the policy changes the changes in Quality Assurance scoring. theya re monitoring us twice as hard more directors and Vice Presidents listening to calls than ever.
