Actually, the company will be making money from him. There is zero profit from the employee rate plan. So by signing to a consumer plan, he's basically added another "paying" customer instead of a profitless employee 😉

🙄 Profitless my pimply a$$!! Cingular makes almost as much if not more off of us employees as regular customers depending on the features we have with our employee rate plans. I'm paying for insurance, N&W minutes $2.99 and $9.99 respectively and if I want to talk to another CINGULAR or AT&T customer I'll have to fork over more money for M2M. CINGULAR bends everyone over in the end.

Every phone company is in the business of getting your money. Every cell phone company out there is trying to sneak a fee in to boost your bill. The funniest part is they learned that from landline companies. All up in your a** and pocket every month.

To add to your point - since when are employees profitless? They may get discounted phone services, but they are hopefully bringing new customers to the company. Dealer lines aren't intended to make money - they are 'perk' for good employees and agents.

Also, the thing that really sucks with dealer lines is that you can't go elsewhere if you're not happy with your service. You also can't haggle out a great deal with a third-party dealer. You get a discount, but you only get what your given. If 'The Box' wants to forego his dealer line to take advantage of a third-party dealer's pricing on a phone that he wants, I don't know of any reason why he shouldn't be allowed to do that.
