Call Forwarding????

SForsyth01

Jun 10, 2005, 1:46 PM
I was just wondering if there was a way to forward my calls from my Cingular (business line) cell phone to my personal cell phone (VZW) so I don't have to carry 2 phones with me everywhere on the weekends.

If there is, how much does this cost in order to do it?

Thanks,
Shawn

In the settings options in your phone there should be a call settings option... just minutes. 😁

Yeah, but the only way I can do that is if I stop it from going to voicemail (when I don't have all calls forwarded). Do I just change the number from "voicemail" to the phone number I want them forwarded to and then change it back when I don't want them forwarded anymore?

There is an option there for data calls too. Does that mean I can forward text messages too?

So I just have to change the number that all calls are being forwarded to???

And then I can change it back on Monday forward to voicemail if unavailable. Right?

Is there a way that you can set up a spam filter on your texts that will send them to your e-mail address? I know that you can do that for t-mobile - does Cingular do the same thing? Thanks in advance.

You could also try Fast Forward. $2.99 a month, doesn't use minutes, automatically forwards and unforwards for you. Just pop it in the cradle when you get home and hit the release button before you take it off the cradle.

Fast forward works to ANY alternate number in the same area. I have many customers who use this feature in that fashion and it functions fine.

Are you sure? We were explained that it has to be a landline in my market.

Well,

How do they tell the difference?

I was told Cingular "wanted" it to be landline only, but the FF soc basically was to add revenue and not generate minutes within the bill. I have the FF on my wife's line (regular retail account) and forward her phone manually all the time (not using the FF unit). It works just fine. The FF device simply gives a command to the handset to forward and unforward the handset, nothing else. Doing it manually makes no difference.

I do not recommend this to customers who may just walk in to the store, I sell it as it was designed. But I personally use it with no issues and some of my better educated customers understand that it can work this way to, but that it is not designed to perform this fun...

Never tried it... But I shall though. Only reason I somewhat doubted it was the way I was trained, lack of devices sold (lack of interest in the area), and CSP says only to home or work numbers. But I shall try it and see how it goes. 🙂

If your service is on the Former ATT Wireless side of cingular you are bill your per minute rate according to your rate plan. meaning what ever your overage rate is you are billed that amount for every minute call forwarded. This may be different on the new cingular plans however.

So it doesn't just use my minutes if I am not over??? It actually charges me a per minute rate to forward calls????

Other people have told me that it only uses my minutes. Which one is correct???

I am on a new Cingular plan, but I am in a market that was formerly only blue.

Well the New plans may be different what I said applies to former ATTWS customers and their plans. I am not completely familiar with all the details of the new cingular plans because I deal with the former ATTWS accounts. So this may not apply to you.

Shawn,
Blue is correct, ATTWS does bill overage minutes not plan minutes for call forwarding. Cingular plans however come from your plan minutes so you have nothing to worry about hun.
