Does anyone know if you can exchange a defective phone for a different model? I have returned this samsung e317 twice before, this would be my third time. Do they allow you to get a different manufacturer?

We (Cingular) provide warrenty exchange as an expodited service for the manufacturer- The warrenty isn't coming from our company- it's coming from Samsung (or whichever manufacturer the phone is) So chances are they will not replace your device with another manufacturer's because it would not fall within their warrenty exchange policy. They most likely would, however, look into getting you a different model if you are having continuous problems- but it may not be able to go thru cingular- because like i said, we provide an expodited service for the manufacturer. Your best bet would be to call up Samsung, explain the problem and arrange a warrenty exchange through the manufacturer- downfall- it may take 4 weeks instead of 3 days.

Thanks, they just discontinued this phone and im sure I know why. Its a horrible phone. I should have kept my motorola v551 instead of getting the e317 at the end of my 30days. The v551 was too big and heavy for my liking, but look what i get for wanting a small phone. Any idea if cingular will be getting any new phones soon? I know some other companies are and I think its only like 80.00 to terminate my service, although i like having the rollover so i would rather not but i can barely hear most people on my phone.

Help??? HELP???!!!!! You are way beyond help...you were beyond help the moment you gave up a kick ass phone for a suck ass phone...and now...you are simply.... SCREWED!!!! And I find it funny as hell, to be honest with ya. I deal with people like you all the time...the phone is to big, it's too heavy, I don't like it cuz it doesn't fit in my pocket good...I deal with people like that all the time...and usually they trade a great phone for a crap phone like the X427 just because it meets their "cosmetic" desires....sheesh!!! The V551 is a gorgeous phone!!! And it's got features out the a$$!!!!WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!!!!!

God, I feel better now....

Sorry...my area don't have "projects". I'm a country boy....I don't have no need of a big city with "projects" so I can worry about somebody "bustin a cap" in my a$$.

Final conclusion: Your assumption about me also goes to prove the stupidity you have already shown by exchanging a great phone for a sucky one and then being screwed in the end like you deserve. Go pay retail price for another phone stupid boy.

I am not quite so sure the situation is as clear cut as you may believe.

I wonder how the representative represented the phone to Homeslice.

Considering it was discontinued - the representative probably was aware that customers where in fact having issues with it (if in fact - that is why it was discontinued).

Why the representative did not make these issues clear to Homeslice probably has to do with the low level of quality support in his area - or in telesales if he called in.

Also - I'd be careful before mocking someone for making a purchase you disagree with - you never know when you too will make a bad decision.

Unless of course - you completely understand everything like home mortgages - buying cars and loans - finding c...

You have made very good points, so here are mine:

1. The Motorola V551 that he previously had holds it's own even against our top of the line phones.

2. The Samsung E317 SUCKS BALLS

3. I have dealt with many customers who wanted a phone like the E317, and tried to disaude them for a phone like the V551 in the interest of having a better QUALITY phone. And 9 times out of 10, even if I tell them that a phone is having problems, they will still go for the original one they had in mind because it's "small and cute."

I could buy a little puppy that's "small and cute" but if it has rabies and it bites me, I don't think I'm going to be happy with my purchase in the long run.

4. It feel's good to tell somebody off every now and...

Well - I did not appreciate comment #2.

Now I have to clean tea from my keyboard and my nose is burning from getting such a chuckle my body temporarily forgot how to consume tea and decided to reject my offering of liquid through the various orfices available on my face.

I agree with you though on #3 generally 😉

Just wanted to point out - it might not be as cut and dry on the surface 😁

The handset was not discontinued for problems. It was pulled to for supply reasons. I sold many of these handsets with no issues at all. Your assumptions about the rep's level of service provided conforms to your typical jaded view.

Considering the V551 has several product advisories out I think people might want to not hold it in such high regard. I carry one and love it but I am also realistic and know it has some issues. Most of the new ones are ok, but many of the older units experience the software and battery issues.

And yeah, pooky bear, those items are available in writing.
