Hi all, I have a big problem with my cell signal in Salina, Kansas. I have a nokia 3595 and have the Cingular Family Plan GSM nationwide. If you check your coverage maps Salina is totally covered, but the signal here is horrible. I was on the phone this evening and I got totally disconnected 4 times within 5 minutes. What happens is the signal bar completely goes away and the Cingular on the phone even disappears. There are sometimes though, that I have full signal for a brief amount of time. But all of a sudden I'm back down to low 1 bar signal again. Is there anyway that I can get full signal all of the time in this situation? Also I have tried turning my phone off and on, and pulling out the battery and putting it back in and thes...

well first question i would have is does this happen no matter where you are, becasue if it is everwhere like more than a 5-10 mile radias it means your phone isnt handlin the service that is there... if its not happeing everyehere and other places u get more there could jsut be a tower down in the are... i would def travel 5-10 mile just to see if it does this everywhere

best of luck

Yes, everywhere in the city it happens. When I travel to wichita, kansas which is about 80 miles south, I get decent signal. In Arkansas I get flawless signal.

Thanks!

most likely just a bung tower.

Most of Salina is in an area that is considered "low coverage", means we have coverage in area, but its not the best, usually in low coverage areas you can use your phone ok outside, but in cars or houses you will experience issues.

Thanks for all the responses!

I bought this plan because I saw that Salina was covered on the map just like everywhere else was in the orange. I believe they should have a different color for lower coverage areas.

I can deal with half signal, but I cannot deal with getting disconnected everytime I'm talking to someone.

Anymore ideas of things I could try to improve my reception? I get full signal every once in a while, why can't I lock on to that tower for good?

Thanks!

Used to live in Wichita and Kansas City, GSM coverage in KS isn't as good as the TDMA used to be, in most metro areas there's solid coverage, but in secondary areas, i.e. smaller cities, the coverage isnt as good, sucks, when i went from my TDMA phone to a GSM phone i noticed a definite change, better coverage in cities, but worse coverage in between main areas.
