Just had a call from a nice polite customer.... yay!! 🙂

Cust had gone to the store about migrating to Cingular and wanted to confirm the details. They offered the Razor for $199.99 with 2 yr contract and the nation 450 plan. Everything good. No misinformation....

Then the cust drops the bomb....

"$200.00 is alot of money. You'd think that cingular would be nicer and give me $50 off since I have to sign another 2 yr contract for it and I'm on social assistance. I don't have alot of money so cingular should give me a bigger discount!"

OMFG! Getting a $600 phone for $200 is not good enough.
BTW I don't know about you but in Canada if your on social assistance you can't really AFFORD a $200 bloody cell phone! ...

In canada if you on a assistance you are not aload to own anything worth more then $500 unless it is a live nessesity. Also your land line phone is provided for you. If you want something like cell you have to pay it out of your pleddly little personal alloance, usually only $150/month.

Yaa i get that all the time. I give them the discounted rate for the phone, and they want to haggle over it. I can understand that, but I'm also a cut to the chase kinda guy i give the bottom line lowest price i can. Although lately I have thinking about maybe adding $20-50 to the prices I quote to the customers, just to give them more to haggle.

I have noticed most of the states is all about appearence and having the best of the best. Especially in miami and l.a. so if the cust is in that area that is why she just wants the best for less. A simple no means no and they will understand as long as you are nice adn very empathetic about it.

just in case
Empathy:
1)Identification with and understanding of another's situation, feelings, and motives.
2)The attribution of one's own feelings to an object!!

I hear you on that actually in our country Canada my understanding because they are on assistance they cannot get a cell phone on postpaid service anyway.

PS: Correction I never meant to give you a hard time to your post in Family plans. just the wording of it can be read wrong. if you read my response you know what i mean.

I really think cell phone companies should do like the car companies and develop a "no haggle, no hassle" policy. The only way it would work though is if every cell phone company did it at the same time... 😕
