Is it true that newer phones can get a signal better or the same as older phones?

i don't think that being new has, per se, has anything to do with better signal-- it comes down to the specific phone. at least, that's what i was told.

i haven't used a v551, but i did just get an s710a, and it definitely has stronger signal, more often than any other phone i've ever had. it even works in every room of my house, which i've never seen a cell phone do before.

Gosh I hope not. My mom just ugraded from a SE T226 (was in the washer, God only knows why) to the V551. I have the V400, and she liked the quality of mine. She was debating to get the Samsung P207(black one, if I have the model wrong) or the V551 and chose the V551 because of the low quality the Samsung looked like. I have a friend that has the free Samsung one, and she hates it, after 6 months. Sucks she can't upgrade right now, but, oh well.

Is Cingular coming out with new phones anytime soon? I can't upgrade for a while, but kind of like the V551, since it has BT.
