Want to change phones... how?

So I've been a customer now for a few months, and in that time I've really grown to dislike my S710 phone, things like the sloooooow menus, the price drop 10 days after I could have returned it, the reception, people claim I am breaking up when I full full signal, etc.

So because I think I am stuck with this phone (right?) what are my options? Can I buy a phone on ebay (used, or not requiring contract) and plug in my SIM? I am looking at either the Razr or the V551 at this point. I am quite sure Cingular isnt going to help me on this right? If the SIM card can be swapped, maybe just use 2 phones, the s710 when I want a neat gadget with me, or a Rzar/V551 when I need better reception, or to appear more 'business like'? Just wondering ...

Yes you can buy a phone off ebay and plug your sim into it. Your 710a is still under warranty so if you are having reception problems you can exchange it by dialing 1800-801-1101

When you say exchange it, I assume you mean for the same model?

actually i have had all three phones. i currently use the s710 (which in my opinion is the best of the 3). the only problem i have with it is the terrible battery life.. the menus are sometimes a little slow but not unbearable...

as for the phone going in and out... i had that problem for a while because i would use my shoulder to hold my phone and the mic is on my cheek. once i realized and continued to be aware of it no more breaking up (or sounding like im under water)...

if u do purchase another phone you will have to pay full retail price for a new one. if you choose this option.... SAVE the money and go with the v551... same features as v3, for the most part, and v551 has video capture 😉

And if I buy a used phone from ebay, is there any conerns I should have (other than normal ebay concerns)? Everything on Cingular is based on the SIM right? So I wont be getting a phone and put in my SIM and have it magically have a huge balance on it, or something? Do I need unlocked phone? Assuming I dont. Also, I dont need to worry about swapping the SIM between phones right? Its not as if the SIM will get 'married' to a particular phone?

an uclocked phone is not really needed . The only way you need an unlocked phone is if it is a phone cingular never sold. Sim cards are not married to phones so you will not get a huge bill all of the sudden because you switched phones but you mgiht want to call cingular customer service to update your phone type.
