question about a bill and due date

razzy

my newest bill arrived

i got my bill which is 48.05

the invoice of the bill is dated june 15

a few days later i recieve a "past due" notice for my bill of 48.05

the past due notice is dated June 27th

the actual bill, says payment of 48.05 is due upon recipt which means that its not due until july 15th which sounds correct

but why am i recieving a late notice dated june 27th for the same bill?

june 15th could be the end of the bill cycle. hard to say. i don't think you should have gotten a notice, but again it's hard to say without a bill infront of me 🙂

well my cycle ends june 14th and starts june 15th so that part is correct. i migrated so this bill is my last att bill. i am still expecting a new bill from cingular in a day or so since the cycle ends the 25th i believe

i know why i got this bill...but its odd that it says the invoice is june 15th and due upon recipt which makes it not due til july 15th, but its odd that i got a late notice dated the 27th

When it means due upon receipt, it means the amount is due now, yes you have up until July 15th to make payment. Maybe there was a previous amount for the same amount not taken care of so that has carried over.

Like the other rep. stated, need to see the invoice to make sure.

Don't know if you're confused about why it says it's due upon receipt, but here's some insight as to why it says that and not an actual due date. If it's a due date, and you pay it early, you are givin Cingular something, which is time. In return, they'd have to give you something since they accepted your payment early. Kind of weird sounding, but it's legal mumbo jumbo stuff. The reason this doesn't work with credit cards is because when you pay early, it affects the interest added to your account.

Not sure why you think you have an extra 30 days. Items are not late according to credit bureaus until 30 days late but that doesn't mean someone can't charge you a late fee if you don't pay according to their "late by" date.

i have always done this with cingular and its never been a problem. i always get it paid before the next billing cycle started. if they want it by a certin day they should say so, otherwise i dont think its rash of me to believe i can pay it whenever i feel like in that 30 day period.

i've never been chaged late fees for a bill so what difference does it make?

cingular doesnt give a "late by" date

On bills in our region there is a statement on the bill that says "late fees assessed if not paid by XXXX".

Due upon receipt mean due IMMEDIATELY, not 30 days later. When is the end of your bill cycle?

the cycly for my att account ended on the 14th, invoice dated the 15th which makes sense

Did you have a past due amount from May, or pay on the 15th or later of May for your last bill?? Those is the only reasons why you would be charged a late fee. If not then call Customer Care and have someone go over it with you. That is why they are there.

Just a thought...

BTW you don't get charged a late fee on the AWS side until the end of the bill cycle so you are fine so long as you pay by the 14th.
