ROTFLMAO!!

disturbed1

Jul 3, 2005, 2:46 PM
Maybe I'm just feeling mean-spirited today, but I just got a call that I HAVE to laugh about:

*Ring ring*
"Good afternoon, thank you for calling Cingular Wireless, this is Joey, how may I help you?"

"Umm, yes, are you open today?"

"Uhh, No....."

"Oh, OK! Well time do you close on weekdays?"

I'm sorry, and maybe I'm just feelin a bit mean but if I actually answered the phone, wouldn't that imply that we're open? I had to say "no" just to see what happened. I didn't actually expect her to believe me! 🤣

That is a prime example of what us Customer Care Rep's have to deal with - Good call to laugh at that one - What center are you from?

I'm not in a call center. I'm an agent store rep, but it's just the principle of the thing. If I answered and asked if I can help them then chances are that we're open.

Sorry about that. Since you are a rep in a store i have a question for you, since i'm a rep in a center. I have had customers calling in and stating that were are offering to buy out there contract from what ever carrier they are currently with. Do you know whether this is true? Or have rep been offering to buy out contract from other carriers - pretty much pay the ETF if they cancel and come to Cingular?

NO! That's just a customer tryin to pull one over on ya! The only reps that will EVER offer something like that are very shady agent reps that are just out for the sale and disappear afterwards. They'll promise the customer the world and then are nowhere to be found when they don't deliver.

If ANY carrier offered to pay ETF's for customers not only would they get DROVES of people running to them, but they'd also loose their shirts.

Suncom is paying out some ETF's here (in Charlotte). Whether it is the company or an individual store, I am not sure.

YES...WE HAVE BOUGHT OUT CONTRACTS. But is always a large business account. The guys on the business end of the company can do things us normal people can't even dream of.

Well, yes there are always some exceptions when you're talking about businesses. But then you have to think that if we spend $30,000 paying for ETF's in exchange for a $4 million contract then we more than break even.

I'm talking about as a promotion offering to pay ETF's for regular consumers of other companies in exchange for switching to Cingular on a 2yr contract. Think of the number of people who you hear on a daily basis sayin that they'd leave right now if it weren't for thier ETF. Then think of all of those people running to another carrier who's offered in an advertising campaign to pay off that $175 (or whatever) for them and then give them a free phone (cause ya know they'd want one). A regular customer doesn't make thier c...

I know it was mean, but I mean come on...you call a store with the purpose of finding out if they're open (we've all done it sometime or another). If someone answers you don't ask if they're open, you say something like "I was just checking to see if you were open" or "what are your hours for today?".

As far as what you're gonna do with me....ummm...revan might have something to say about that one 😉 But then again since I'm all the way down here in NC probably not much but laugh at me.

Hmmmm...do I even wanna know about last night?

(If it's something that happened here at PS I wouldn't know, I was with my gf last night, she made a surprise visit 😁 ) And if he's gonna "deal" with someone...is that good or bad?

You can say that stuff to your customers....when you're well aware that you're gettin the hell out of your job.

Although I love to laugh at customers, i can see where this one is coming from. I used to work in a grocery store and there were many times we were in the store doing work outside of store hours- phone would ring "hi are you open" .... "nope... we are open from this time to this time etc" there are many retail stores both wireless and other that have personell in store answering phones even if the location is not open. If the person called cust care to a call center and asked that, then i'd wonder. But it's really not that stupid to call a store and ask that.
