Games and Ringtone Questions

I was wondering if there's anyway to get a credit or redownload a game or ringtone once we upgrade phones. I had just purchased a game right before our phone messed up and had to upgrade. I was told we could redownload for a year after purchase, but can't seem to figure out how. They said the price on the game section would be free, but I just wanted to make sure or know if I had to do anything. Right now, they have the actual price.

Thanks!🙂

Okay, lets compare this scenario to another . . . You have a satellite dish and you order a movie for $5.00, and you record that movie onto a VCR tape . . . two month's later your VCR tape get's struck by lightning and is erased . . . would you expect to get the satellite dish company to provide you with the movie for FREE.
Come on, give me a break. Don't be so cheap, if you liked the game so much, purchase it again . . . oops I forgot that we are dealing with people who are always trying to get something for nothing 😉

I'm not saying I expect it for free. I just remember asking a rep once because a while back, I was having problems with a phone. I kept telling them and they said it's not a problem sir, you just have dropped calls every now and then, even though you can see the tower from your front door. The signal is weak, but all our data shows it shouldn't, so tough for you. Finally, I got a rep that knew something and she said I can XBM the phone and get a new one. I asked what if I had downloaded a ring tone or something in the mean time and she said we can redownload them for up to a year, that I can go online and it wouldn't charge me.

I'm not expecting it to be free, just was asking a question.

I see what you're saying... but i don't think that's true. It sounds like you may have been given some mis information. It depends which site and company these downloads come from, for one to even know what their rules are for downloading. The standard though, is that if you download the exact same thing( ringtone game graphic etc) within 24 hours to the same phone (accidently erased, forgot to save etc) then you do not get charged. I've never heard of it being within the year. They should start something for compensation though, because some ring tones are expensive and if you have a phone and it malfunctions, it is not your fault you have to get a new one. I'm not exactly sure how the technology side works, but they should make it so th...

I've given customer's a $10.00 credit on their account if they had to go through warranty exchange and I could see that they had e-wallet (downloads) for ringtones in their last 6 month's of bill's -- but some of the games that customer's download are $20.00 - $25.00.

May I point out something?

As per most licensing agreements, you are only entitled to the ringtone/game/download once. Technically you are licensing that ringtone to your existing phone. It is not registering it to your account, that is just the media you are paying it with.

On VZW, if your phone gets lost or whatever, all the licenses you have for the downloads on it are lost. Regardless if you get a new phone, the licenses do not transfer over. Within 24 hours it is ok but after that you are stuck with what you got.

Unfortunate yes but I do believe this is also how the other carriers run with these things.

Well on sprint the games and tones you buy from them are saved on the internet so it dosent matter if you switch the phone or not...(Provided that you buy from them) But with Cingular you can get a refund for the purchace price of a tone if you do XBM up to $50 but not for internet usage and only for ringtones that are downloaded from cingular, no we are not paying you for JAMSTER OR DIRTYHIPPO, call them yourself. But you can get the charge for the tone graphic or game reimbursed... 😲

I'm glad I got Mobile Phone Tools though, since I can create my own ringtones. It was only $20, so and doesn't use any data transfers. I just got it, but I think I can back up all my graphics, audio clips, and phonebook entries. I'm not sure if it'll back up games though. That sure would be nice. Good investment, too.

TMobile policy is to resend games and ringtones whenever a warranty exchange is done, basically as part of the exchange process. The thinking here is that warranty exchanges are beyond the customer's control and we're returning the phone to its original condition. We draw the line at upgrades, though, and people get a little ticked when we tell them we can't resend downloads if they change their number, but that's an actual system limitation, not a policy.

Nope no credit like was said before the ring tone is licensed for a device not an account. you can always do a warranty with the manufacturer but you still may not get the original phone back or everything on it may get deleted. look around ...
