call up their cust care and ask them. i'd be sure to mention that you don't need to renew your contract because you don't need a gsm phone from them.
or worse comes to worse, try one of their stores and see if one of the reps could do it there and not renew the contract (you might have to persuade 'em, like mention you'd buy a vpa or leather case to get them to not renew the contract, ๐ ๐ ๐ ).

If you are NOT getting a discounted phone, do NOT want a rebate, and are NOT getting a promotional plan, you're home free.
Buying the V400 takes care of the first two quite easily.
When you go for the plan, either tell them you don't want to change your plan (quite possible with most existing plans) or that you want a plan without promotional items. (Either the GSM Regional, if you have one, or the National without Mobile-to-mobile minutes.)
Depending on local policy, you may or may not have to pay for the SIM card. That would be your only expense.
