You'd be better off buying an unlocked foreign phone instead of waiting for a U.S. release if you absolutely must have a 'leading edge' phone.

I have 6 phones. I use whichever suits me for that day. When I am making bets with my bookie, I carry my Nokia 6820; so it is easy for me to text the wagers. When I want to make quality video of an event, I carry the Nokia 6670. When I am in my truck, I use the Nokia 6340, which fits my cradle with the external antennae and booster. When I want to practice using obscure menus I carry the NEC 535,,,lol.
Mostly I carry the Nokia 6170, because I like the keypad.
If I want to drop calls, have the phone "hang up " while trying to access menus and generally cause me grief, I carry the motorola 400.

LOL about the v400, I used to use that phone, people told me how cool it was and wondered why I wanted to get a new phone, I ended up giving it away and buying the 6620, by far the best phone I have ever used.

Whats odd is that Cingular leads with the technology level of wireless equipment in the US market. I guess they cant keep up with the needs of their customers.

the phones have to be fully tested on our network before we can relaease it to the public. the a630, v635, mpx, all did not make the cut. that's why we didn't pick them up. motorola hasn't even launched the v8 yet, but we will carry it.

the V635 (which reviews from users consistently say "best motorola phone ever" and "motorola finally got it right") couldn't beat the buttons on the Z500a, the battery life and dropped calls of the V551, the craptastic camera sound quality and dropped calls of the MPx200 and the constant restarts on the Treo 650 mid-call? I think the real reason we didn't get the V635 is that it would immediately cannibalize the RAZR and we've spent way too much money promoting it to do that just yet. But at least we're scrapping the entire lineup (except the RAZR, of course) by the end of the year for completely new ones.

they're not scrapping the entire line, the newer models are just replacing the old ones. they won't be any better. if you recall, there were a lot of great reviews about the v600 too. we all know how great that phone was. 🙄

the x427 is being replaced with the x497. haven't heard anything about the 6010 yet, that will be interesting to see. that's a solid phone.
