TDMA verses GSM and CDMA
I had Cingular (phone model is not important) GSM here in Gainesville, Florida 32614 is blown away by the three bigest CDMA carriers.
Both GSM and CDMA are really bad when it comes to going through thick structures. I brought an old TDMA phone to work with me, I was able to great signal!To bad they are slowly getting rid of TDMA it works so well. Does anyone know how much longer TDMA will be around? And by the way, my TDMA service is a prepayed card service.
(Those who may be curious, CDMA works great in at least a 300 mile radius of where I live. I am beginning to think Cingular paid so much for ATTWS, that they do not have enough money to build or upgrade their towers)

they wanna fade out tdma by the end of 2005, whether that happens or not who knos. gsm should be getting better though, i heard they r doing away mostly with the 1900MHZ signal and using primarily the 850MHZ signal it is stronger because its a lower frequency it penitrates structures far better than 1900, it has trouble going through leaves on a tree!, the only upside of 1900 was that it used less battery power so your fone lasted longer, but to benifit from that signal u pretty much needed to be standing in a wide open field with line of sight with the tower, and we all kno how often we do that
