All I want to increase the minutes and other services with ATT or Cingular.

All I want to increase the minutes and other services with ATT or Cingular.

But, two of Cingular’s policies are in conflict with each other, and prevent it.

First, they effectively forbid us from changing our ATT plans (by taking away free Night and Weekends and free Mobile to Mobile if we change our ATT plan w/o migrating to Cingular).

Then they require that we ATT plan customers be at the end of our ATT contract before they can migrate to Cingular. (Apparently this is the case only in certain markets, e.g. Northeast and West Coast)

These two policies are conflict, since we want to move up, but can’t.

You would think that the Cingular would want customers to buy into higher value plans, but I have run into some unexpecte...

I think they dropped off the Night and Weekend minutes and mobile to mobile because they were promotional on some venue, but I agree it's not a good situation. In my market, they're still letting everyone migrate and they've waived the migration fee.

I wish I had better news for you, but I'm uninformed about your area.

Remember if you call customer service and complain and complain enough, and hang up and talk to enough CSRs, you will get your way.

I love getting customers who have that mentality. It makes it so much more satisfying to tell them 'no'.

Telling customers no is the worst thing a rep can do... they need to have that can do attitude! 😁

Yeah Meegs, I hope some day I call you up and you have a "no can do" attitude, then I demand for your supervisor.

as far as the AT&T side goes it may be the rate plan you're hopeing to change to doesn't have those promos provisioned however most plans say 59.99 and up off m2m. you will lose early nights and weekends since thats no longer aviable with any plan but nights and weekends 5000 min could be avaible as well. again it depends on your area(area code) as to what plans rae aviable. it may very well be that you will be able to migrate in your area it might just take some time. so I'd advise you to call back into customer care because cingular plans 39.99 and above have unlimited nights and weekends as well as m2m. I was not aware of your market being divested . I hope this helps you out on the right path... where you lookking ot go on a sharable pla...

That can't be further from the truth. A very smart mentor once said to me, "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar". Call up with complaints and demands trying to buck the system, you will get a gracious "Sorry".

There are numerous ways to migrate with little or no cost. Do you get new equipment for a discount if you aren't eligible? No. Do you get to change your rate? Yes.

The customer would have lost their "deal" whether or not Cingular bought ATTWS.

well here is the thing, that policy right now is a gsm policy i havent seen this with TDMA customers, but they are more or less trying to align former att customer with the same policy as already cingular gsm usomters... it def a monoploy policy i think, but at the same time it is something they are aware of, they expired all of former att promotions becasue they dont want customer renewing on the older system which is understadable so in some ways some customer are just SOl and it kinda sucks

First, a lot of promotions arent available to add like they used to be. So if we were to change the price plan and increase the amount of included minutes you have, theres a definite possibility any promotions you had, would be removed, and no longer obtained.
Second, the only reason as to why you're incapable of upgrading and must complete 21 out of 24 months or 11 out of 12 months is due to the discounts when it comes to equipment upgrades. You're always more than welcome to go into the local store and upgrade there. The only downfall, paying full retail price for the equipment. Although in the long haul, spending an extra $100 might be worth it, versus the extra $1000 you may pay over a one year period for overage charges in additional m...

You did sign the contract for your service. Really the only conflict is that cingular is wants all the former att customers to move to cingular phones and plans. Once those are all done there are a few expensive software licenses they will no longer have to maintain. I wonder if they would let you do a customer on the move and change your billing address to the central region. That way your in a different 'billing market' and can migrate.
