ok...i already posted this in the sprint forum, but...once again i just want to see if anyone is gonna try to say that rollover is better than F&F...call me a troll if you want, i just want a reply from a cingular rep...:-)
i have a simple mathematical exercise that i beleive will definitively prove that Fair&Flex is a better value than rollover:
let's say person A has cingy...450 minutes/mt for $39/mt
person B has sprint...300 minutes/mt for $30/mt
person A and person B both use 400 minutes/mt for the first six months on their plan, then, during the seventh month, *they have a death in the family* or *they go on vacation*, and they each use like 1250 minutes
month 1 - 400 minutes used
person A rolls 50 minutes over, pays $39...
(continues)
...
Imagine now that the death in the family, means they will be calling lots of friends and familiy also on Cingular who are covered under free mobile to mobile calculate it that way now.
...
good argument...
and i believe that it should hold until the sprint-nextel merger is finalized, and nextel customers are able to use F&F...then not only will they have free incoming calls, but also F&F, nights starting at 6, AND the largest calling family in the country...PLUS the most complete coverage area in the country...
but until then, cingy does have this one last leg (be it a strong one) to stand on...
...
do you know what you are talking about? not every plan on nextel has free incoming. i'm sure sprint also offers other plans other than fair and flexible. i would bet my life that not everyone will be merged and automatically given the features of every plan. they would need to come up with new plans, and merge everyone onto the same network. your argument there is absurd since you don't know what you are talking about.
...
does anybody know what plans will be available post-merger? if not, then why would anyone want to speculate that those plans will be so bad? be optimistic, let's talk as if they'll be great!
regardless, why are we having this discussion in the cingular forum? let's move this thread into either the sprint or nextel forum...
...
you are the one who said that everyone would have F&F, free incoming and nights starting at 6. you are also the idiot who started this thread in the CINGULAR forum. are you schizophrenic??
...
Chill out megs, jesus christ.
As for the largest calling family with the Sprint/Nextel merger... I don't even think their merging will beat out Cingular's 51 million? Am I wrong? I'm not too familiar with Sprint and especially Nextel's figures.
...
i am chill, anyway that person made a comment and i responded to them and they acted like i was talking about random stuff. some people on this site just aggravate me to no end. no, cingular will still be number one. i can't wait until we offer pTT and UMTS everywhere, then no carrier will be able to compete.
...
No, Sprint discontinued all of their "regular" plans, so now you can only have Fair and Flexible which I think was extremely dumb on their part.
...
ummm maybe im retarded and read that wrong. but did person B with spint only have 300 minutes a month....but were using 400 a month....seems to me theyd be paying more.
...
No---phonerbiu is right. The Sprint customer pays $30 for $300 min., plus $5 for extra 100 min. for first 6 months.
I don't have Sprint or Cingular, but I think F& F is the best plan out there. No need to keep changing plans, or worry about rollovers expiring, etc. I wish Verizon had F & F
...
I also have neither and i think you are dead wrong. How would something that costs money beat something that comes with the plan. Rollover minutes only expire 1 month at a time, not at once as well. I don't see the rationale behind paying money for something compared to getting it for free like rollover. I wish verizon had either but preferrably rollover. Get on the bandwagon Verizon and at least do something!!!

I swear verizon has the largest coverage out there! But I may not know anything since I do work for them.
...
That is the way it works. If everyday you tell people your carrier is better and has the best to offer eventually you begin to believe. There is also the factor of your pay coming from the company making you happier with them. Luckily as an outsoursed Convergys rep I can be non biased and admit Cingular does suck at alot of things, however is not that much different from the top few carriers. They are all so similar.

HAHAHAHAHHAH after all the suites that are going to nextel and sprint no worries
plus isnt it funny that the companies are adding in thre affiliates as " there own" customer..... lol...... after 2 companies come together no way are ya'll going to have more ppl than cingular
...
"... calling lots of friends and familiy also on Cingular who are covered under free mobile to mobile ..."
Well, just one customer's opinion, but the M2M assumption adds little to the exercise. I never knew what the F/F program was until reading this. IF Sprint actually permits an extra 200 mins/month @ 5c, plus another 750 mins @ 10c ... that beats the H&ll out of rollover.
😳
I've never used Sprint, but whenever I've had a friend w/ Sprint (or with Nextel too), their mobile calls to me have been LOUSY@! Lots of fading, static, just poor quality overall.
If they've improved the coverage & quality, I'd go for F&F instead of rollover - in a hot flash. Their network is the question ?? 🙄
...
i (and every1 i know) am/is on sprint - sprint calls have been in my family for a LONG time...clear as day!!
maybe the poor call quality has something to do with the networks being different...i'l have to call my (one) cingular friend and get back to you...

During the most recent 3 years, I have close friends with Nextel and Sprint in Northern California. During that same time I've been with AT&T or Cingular.
I can't count the number of Sprint calls that were dropped during freeway travel. The Nextel calls have been consistently bad call quality, regardless of locations. And my friend's Nextel never works at her house - two different homes, in fact - while my Cingular phone is my only phone has no problems, my home or hers.
I abandoned land lines 4 to 5 years ago with no regrets. My only problem is that Cingular coverage is a little weak near my Mom's house in Annapolis MD, but works fine in my travels through the rest of the DC area.
...
NorCal is kinda broad for an answer. In San Mateo or Sac Metro area, Cingular is very good. If I didn't have Cingular, I'd go back to Verizon. As for freeway travel and cutoffs, I rarely talk long enuf to find out if the call will drop. Yacking on a phone while driving is something I don't prefer to do, so I keep it short.
As for DC, I haven't been there in 3 years, but our former Verizon and current (ATT) TDMA worked well.
Tell us where you're at and you'll get more replies.

I'm sooo glad to hear that Sac Metro is good for Cingular, since my hubbie and I live in Sac, and are about to switch from Verizon to Cingular once the new Nokia flip comes out :-)
...
Im an agent in Extreme Northern California, (redding) just 2 hours south of the Oregon boarder. I can tell you that Cingular has one of the best coverages available in this area. AT&T was HUGE up here, one store doing almost 400acts a month. Verizon has decent coverage but only when you factor in analog coverage. Sprint's coverage is spotty at best just north of Redding. Best thing sprint has going for it in this area is their deposits.
...
WOW! a post on cingular about NoCal with no insult or swearing! Great!
I'm a Cingular rep in that that i'm employed by Convergys, so while I see the good about it, I am not brainwashed in beleiving that it is the best out there.
This Fair&Flex does seems nice. Does it include N&W and M2M?
All I have heard about Nextel is that you get the worst CC there is (heard about rep going postal on customers) and bad reception with the phones. Oh and also that their handset choice sucks.
They might become a big competitor for Cingular, but still, think they have a long way to go before becoming the monolitic empire of evilness that is big daddy Stan's moneycow!

or you can do like i did and choose a high plan build up rollover then switch down to enjoy low bills.
...
I'm pretty damn sure that the only way to lose your rollover is to move to another plan. How did you manage to keep them?

Well, I put the numbers into Excel and came up with some pretty exciting results. I compared my current family plan with 3 lines and an individual plan (850 min on FT, 450 on the other), with the 1000 FT plan, 4 lines; 1500 FT plan, 4 lines; and the Sprint F&F Family plan. The main reason I did this is because I'm considering switching to sprint and wanted to actually see the numbers and see the graph of them. For someone that uses around all of the minutes on their plan, Sprint has a higher cost, but only by around $5.00. For someone on a 1500 plan and only using 1200 min, they'd only be paying $5 more a month. Now, the numbers may be a bit off, I was looking for a rough estimate and I think it may add an extra $5 1 minute before it's ...
