Not true. The Cingular IVR is so easy. All you have to do is press 0 to get to someone. With the AT&T IVR, now that is another story.
I know my call center 800 number that when a customer calls even without an extension will be the next person without any wait to the next representative.
This is how my wife calls me (for emergency purposes) directly or customers that I need to troubleshoot their phones but I can't call them at home as they probably have the service that blocks unrecognized 800 numbers (telemarketing busters) and forgot the overriding code. I also used for customers who are driving and pull up to a public and I tried calling them to such phone but sometimes fails.
