Switching over from T-mobile to Cingular
I'm preparing to switch over from T-mobile to Cingular. I'm in a sort of weird position as I would like to come on without signing a contract. Both my wife and I are bringing our unlocked phones with us. She has a Moto V600, that is T-mobile branded, but has since been unlocked.

you will more than likely have to load cingular's gprs settings to the phone or reflash the phone with cingular's software if you are concerned about getting on the web and doing picture messaging. If it is unlocked you can activate it though.

Your best bet would be to go into the store and have a rep put their SIM in the phone... if it works, you're golden. I've had people come in with overseas handsets that are unlocked and they work fine with our SIMs.
Another catch is that to get any of the good features (IE mobile to mobile) you're going to have to sign an agreement. the M2M feature is a promotion and that means there's at least a one year agreement attached... best of luck 🙂

T-Mo is the worst about that. If you want to switch rate plans, then you have to sign another year contract, they do have some plans that are not promotional, but probably 90% of the ones that you would want are. I have been managing to hobbly by without a contract. I'll see what happens. Great responses from everyone.
