Sprint User Moving to Cingular -- Have questions

I have been a SprintPCS user for 8 years. Several different contracts and phones later, I'm moving to area where the primary coverage seems to be covered by Cingular.

I had a connection with a Sprint rep that I used time and again on getting me the most "bang for my buck" with features, freebies, add-ons, etc. Unfortunately, I don't have that benefit heading into a new contract with a new company.
-Any advice or "tricks" into getting extra features?
-How much flexability do sales reps have?
-Are there any "switch from your old carrier to us" kind of promotions?
-Are the plans I see online the same plans offered "in store".
-I'm in Missouri if there are any reps that could handle my switch.

Cingular does not offer any kind of promotions like that. You might be able to get a sweet deal on a phone somehow, I've heard of people getting that.

I guess Cingular thinks the promotion that everyone should get is the rollover. And from what I understand, the reps at call centers don't have much flexibility at all.

For those of us that were with the late AT&T wireless, we remember how much those reps could do! Seems like Cingular just doesn't work that way.

You will love Cingular in Missouri. Great signal. I have both Verizon and Cingular and I can tell you Cingular is best in the Missouri. Oklahoma, Arkanas Texas area.

Reps pretty much have their hands tied with most things... but you may be able to get a little better price on a phone.. They also offer a port rebate once in a while.. so depending on when your moving....

Thanks for your input. So, from other threads I've read around here, if I were to have a compatible phone (say purchased on eBay), I could avoid a long-term (2 year) contract?

yea, you could even buy a phone right at the store and not have to do a contract. You just wouldn't get mobile to mobile (it's considered a promotional thing)

it's beneficial to go on at least a 1 year contract so you can get the free mobile to mobile. and if you're unsure at all, there's always the 30 day trial period.

i'd be more than willing to help you out, but i'm getting a promotion and moving to supervisor so i won't be on the phones anymore. sorry!
