On Monday I ordered two phones on a Cingular famiy plan from Wirefly (I wanted to get in the $59.99 plan before Sept 1). When ordering, I choose to call them because I wanted two different phones and the website only allowed me to get two of the same phone (poor service problem #1). However, when I called, they also told me that they also could only do it with the same phone, but that once the order was entered, I could call a "Customer Service" line and get one of the phones changed. So I went ahead and ordered the service with two v220's, which was a free-phone offer with no rebates required.
Then I called the CS number I had been given and got the second phone changed to a v551 - which the website had listed as $19.99 with no rebate...

Ahhh but you save so much with bypassing your local dealers that are there with brick and mortar stores and real live people to help you...all to give your business to an online wholesaler because you wanted to save a few bucks...what will happen if everyone bought online???? I suppose we would all be stuck with 800 numbers to call and alot of people that SUPPORT the LOCAL ECONOMY will be out of work.
Congrats with your problems and I hope they persist.

While I would not want your problems to persist there is agreement on the issue.
At what point do you value your time more than money?

See my other response. I have always bought from stores when I had phones with other carriers. I was always able to get a decent deal - not as good as online, but I like the personal touch.
However, in this case, my local store was offering the phone for $199 with no rebates. If I can get it for 10% of that price online, I gotta try it.

According to the website, the v551 is now $99 with two different $50 rebates (both time-deferred, I'm sure). One for loyalty, the other for GP I guess...

Hmmm, yeah it sounds like they BS'd you. Get you to buy two phones and then change it so they would fanagle your invoice to two single phones instead of one twin-pack deal...

I tried my local brick-and-mortar Cingular retailer - a brand new store north of Atlanta. Two guys who couldn't cut it as used car salesmen tried to sell me everything but what I wanted. I knew more from reding this forum for a week than they did. PLUS, their phones prices were $50-$100 higher that what I could get from Cingular direct.
If that is the best you guys can do, then you are a dying breed with no hope of survival.
In any event, my post should actually help your cause, so you are welcome.

I would have suggested you ask around at work or friends and family. See if they have Cingular and from where it was purchased. Nothing better than a referral to find a good rep.

True...I am going to keep it. I just came across harsh because I just had a customer that had Nextel and was switching to Verizon Wireless. He had lost his phone and was 2 months from his contract end date. I loaned him a Nextel phone for two months on the agreement that he would come an sign up his Verizon Wireless service with me once his Nextel contract was up. (I sell both services) We went over phone pricing and plans. He came back in two month to return the loaner phone and said, "There was an online website that had that phone for free after their rebates (wifefly). So instead of it costing me 150 bucks and getting a 50.00 rebate, I paid 200 and am getting 200 in rebates." After I bent over backwards to help him! Wirefly woul...
