Cell Phones Meant For Charity Instead Sold On eBay
Customers say when they bought a new phone, Cingular employees asked if they wanted their old one donated to charity.
Larimer County, CO -- Some Cingular Wireless customers feel deceived and angry after cell phones they thought they had donated to charity, were instead sold on eBay.
Loveland realtor Lydia Bliven got a new cell phone in July and offered to donate her old phone.
"Our impression was (that it was going) to a local battered women's shelter," says Bliven.
John Ebbinghaus of Livermore had a similar experience at the Cingular Wireless store on Harmony Road.

Why is that bad press for Cingular? Sounds like bad press for A.C. Lao. It looks like Cingular acted quickly and quietly about the whole thing, which is expected.
Think of it this way, if you go to a station selling Exxon gas and the clerk overcharged your credit card and took the difference, Exxon isn't the one that stole the money and is looking bad, Billy the clerk is.
Now if Cingular was condoning this or did nothing to rememdy it, that'd be a different story.
