oh, the sheer idiocy of some people...

I just had a customer in my store that asked if I coiuld charge his phone before he went to the airport. Of course I said yes, if he could give me twenty minutes to allow it to charge.

He's a legacy AT&T customer, with a Nokia TDMA phone. He asked if we had any of those phones in stock, I told him no, that Cingular hasn't carried or sold TDMA phones for around two years now. He claimed that on cingular's website they have his exact phone for $35. I told him he must have been wrong, that it was perhaps a newer model that ran off of GSM. He insisted that it was his same exact model, for $35 if he renewed his EXISTING AT&T contract. I tried explaining that he was horribly misinformed, that there was no way to renew his existing AT&T contract...

It's not his fault things aren't explained clearly and left to you to correct.

I don't work for cingular, but if thats one of your stupid most ingnorant customers, then damn....you got it made. Consider your self lucky. Doesn't really seem that serious.

Every customer seems like the "new worst".

Seriously, though, if you could have seen how pissed off this guy got when I explained to him that what he was told before was wrong, you'd understand.

This is such a cutthroat industry. On both sides of the ball, too.

those people will come too often in the future, when someone tells me about something on our website or something customer service "told them" then i say "well that sounds like a great deal, you better get that from them because i cant do it" no matter how un-great it is : )
