Why would you buy an Ipod over the ROKR?

I am not part of the Ipod minions so I really have no idea of the advantages of a regular Ipod. I am looking solely at cost.

The regular Ipod is $300. The ROKR will be $249.99 on a 2 year agreement.

Do regular Ipods have more features over the ROKR other than capacity?

I have an iPod and I carry it wherever I go. I honestly see no benefit in the ROKR other than to combine your cell phone and iPod for more convenince, but the capacity is something I'm not willing to give up.

Other advantages of going with an iPod is the battery life, because of course if you're using your phone as an iPod, the battery life will drain quickly. Not so good being stranded without communication OR music. 😳

Other than that the iPod is a very basic music player. I like the intuitive menus, that makes it easier to sort through your music quickly and the interface on the ROKR is not the same. I also like the idea of being able to creat playlists to listen to on the fly. There are also features like a sleep timer, a mu...

I heard the Ipod does not have a user replaceable battery. Is that correct?

In some senses that is correct, but you can easily find websites to buy batteries from and directions to easily install the battery yourself. There are even companies that will install the battery for you (including Apple) but that would require you to send your iPod away.

My friend has replaced his battery on his own once before and he has assured me that it is easily done. I originally was going to go for a Zen Micro because they had a user removable battery but my friend sold me on the iPod after he told me that I would be able to replace the battery myself if need be.

You don't need a replaceable battery unless it's defective. I've had my ipod for 3 years and used it every morning for several hours since. In addition it's plugged in my vehical on those long road trips. No CDs to mess with! With my hearing loss the volume is on full blast so power is constantly being demaded of the little ipod. If you don't want to shell out the $245 for the ipod mini, they have even a smaller unit called the ipod shuffle for $99(120 songs) or $149 (240 songs) or you can get the latest . . . incrediably thin "ipod nano" for $199 (500 songs) or $249 (1,000 songs) Here's the link for you to look at the entire line of ipods for you depending on what you want and what your budget allows. Ipod, is the best there is.
