Hey guys,
I work for a carrier (though not this one) but my father has Cingular. He's been carrying around a v551 with HORRENDOUS sign/voice quality issues. I realize a warranty coverage "might" be applicable to replacing it, but I really would rather just get him a new phone.

I was wondering what people would reccomend as a replacement?
Any models that have a good reputation for RF with Cingular right now?
Bluetooth is preferable, camera/video/media doesn't really matter. oh, overseas phones that you've had experience with count too.

I appreciate your help,
thanks

i would reccomend the V3 - Quad band, excellent reception, bluetooth.

6230 is out indeffinately.. nokia has no idea why they are freezin up.

I'd say either razr or s710. i own the s710 and it blows away my cou v551 for signal.

I think it's that paticular phone that your dad has. I have the V551 and have been to phoenix, az new orleans, la nowhere, mississipi nowhere, alabama nowhere, kentucky nowhere, tennese and nowhere southern illinois in the last 90 days. HAD GREAT COVERAGE EVERY WHERE, so seems to me your dad just needs to get another V551. I believe they have flashed them with new software and given them better batteries as I've sent mine back a couple time for personal cosmetice reasons!

Try to take the batt out while the phone is on, then put it in and turn it back on... this has worked in the past for me. For some reason moto sent out a batch of phones that need to be turned off every 3-4 days... gets on my nerves, but it usually works.

Have your dad check the software version on his phone. There was a product adivisory on phones with the following software versions back in May.

Software: R472_G_08.18.16R_0A
Flex Version: GSPSAN2M0CIN03NA0D3

Software: R472_G_08.18.16R_0A
Flex version: GSPSAN2M0CINB01NA0D5

Software: R472_G_08.18.16R_0A
Flex Version: GSPSAN2M0CGEN01NA0D5

If he has one of the above just have him call the warranty exchange department and they'll mail him the replacement.
