Cingular This/Cingular That

Everyone on this forum is busy saying how much Cingular sucks. Based on your statements, I believe that you all hold yourself to be an authority on cell phone providers. I have been with ATTWS and now Cingular for 7 years.

While I do have complaints, they are not as drastic as all have voiced here. Believe me, if we had DoCoMo, or Vodaphone, or Orange in Illinois, I would be one of the first to sign up.

Having said that, since Cingular is sooo bad, what do you all suggest?! I am not talking about a boycott, but rather, what service provider would you recommend?!

If you are in Illinois, go with US Cellular.

I recommend T-Mobile or Cingular. Cingular is not all that bad. I stick with T-Mobile because I need a very cheap plan, and I get that with T-Mobile 19.99 a month!

Yeah! I agree with you. I do have to admit that I did play that BS game of "My carrier is better than yours." But you know I woke up and realized cell phone carriers are all alike and they all have their pros and cons. So who cares if one carrier covers more area than another. I am satisfied with my carrier for now, and if I switch, oh well. :-)

I was with Pacbell wireless about a year before they became Cingular, then I was with Cingular for another 1.5 years until I got fed up enough and got out of my contract. I was with Sprint for a year after that, and then went to Voicestream in 2001 and I've been with them ever since, and I've only had 2 or 3 major problems with them in the last 4 years. Of all the people I run into I've never met someone who was happy with Cingular, and that includes my ex who worked for them for 3 years.

I usually recommend people to T-Mobile or Verizon

How ironic is that.

When you were on Voicestream you were still using Cingular's network.

I must be misunderstanding something here. You said you were with Cingular and then Sprint for 1 yr (this means you were with Cingy 1999-2000, right?) b...

When it all boils down, nobody is ever going to be happy with the carrier they have because, in general, people expect way too much. If I drop a couple calls here and there, I don't bitch about it, I just realize that I am in a building or I haven't powered my phone off for a month.

The larger companies are always going to have the most complaints because they have more customers. Cingular has been my cell phone provider since before it was called Cingular and from the experiences I have had with friends who have had other companies, I don't want to go anywhere else. Yeah, you can get those customer service reps who piss you off royaly, but when it all boils down, I like the coverage I have and I will probably never switch.
