Some landline service providers will have the ability to display the Cingular account holder's name on caller id but many will not. When you call customer service just ask the agent to remove the caller id block in a tool we call "Snooper" which is a technical program that allows CSRs to troubleshoot various tech problems.

My name and number showed on my caller ID until I had to change my number. Now all it reads is OUT OF AREA no matter if I put the calling name block code on it or not. Now, if I block caller ID of course it comes up private caller. SBC needs to hurry up and update THEIR system. It is provisioned correctly in SNOOPER and CNAM

if you call tech support, they can change the name that comes up.. we did it recently where it was coming up unknown name and the number. The lady at tech support jumped right on it and fixed it... not sure if it could be the same thing for you though.
