Yeah so I was with T-Mobile and my contract is up, so I'd figured I switch to Cingular because I like their phones better, all of my friends are on it, etc. So yeah I went to the place at the mall and the phones are soo expensive. I went home and looked online, they're so much cheaper! Plus you get online rebates and mail-in ones!!! So I placed my order on friday. We called them and told them we wanted overnight shipping so we could get it asap. They lady told us that it wasn't worth it because they wouldn't ship it till monday because of the weekend. So we said okay, and she said we would have the phones tuesday/wednesday. Yeah so then on sunday we get an e-mail saying we must pay a security deposit or our order will be canceled. My mom cal...

Good luck with getting any help on this site in regards to this scenario. Most are sales reps it seems, who will tell you that you're dumb for buying online instead of spending more money at a brick and mortar, so you get their "personal" service. The customer experience overall doesn't matter to them.

Go back to T-Mobile month to month until they come out with a phone you like. Then sign another contract with them. Since it seems your only issue was they didn't have phones you liked, this seems to be a fitting solution.

If it is a deposit issue stemming from a credit check, there is not much you can do. they probably never told you about it at the mall because they wouldnt have run your credit until they started to process the activation of your new line. Basically, if you need a deposit online, you will need a deposit at the mall.

If you want a phone from Cingular, go through Cingular, not Wirefly or Tiger Direct or any other 3rd party internet site.
They do not run your credit at the point of sale, and their customer service sucks.
"The overall customer experience" is not going to be very good.
Call me. I match cingular.com offers, and I will tell you your deposit right away. Also, I have heard of 3rd party sites requiring deposits when corporate does not.

Also. cingular wasnt evoked from the bbb all around the country, just in one region. Not good true, but better than you implied.

Ok.

This sounds like you DIDN'T buy from Cingular.com. If you bought it elsewhere (wirefly, etc.) then be upset with them. There IS a reason not to buy from them and this is it.

If you bought from Cingular.com you would have a credit check IMMEDIATELY and would never have your order placed in the first place until you paid your deposit.

Next time, please try to direct your wrath at the proper party. (and this guy is the one who will be surveyed and say Cingular has poor service. So much for surveys).

I DID order from cingular.com and DID CALL cingular about this matter. I DIDN'T deal with any 3rd-party companies including wirefly. So yes I am very unhappy with CINGULAR's service.

2 Samsung x497
1 Samsung e317
1 Motorola V3 Razr - Black

Zip = 32713

I was saving $110 in rebates, not to mention the phones starting price is a lot cheaper online than in the stores. ☚ī¸

You do realize of course that these are mail in rebates, and the same prices with the mail in rebates would have been the same in the retail company owned stores....

Samsung X497.....49.99-30.00 mail in rebate= 19.99
Samsung E317.....99.99-50.00 mail in rebate= 50.00

Moto Razr Black...199.99...no mail in rebates....

My point proven exactly...

I did look up the zip code and our prices in Company owned retail are the same as online for those phones you ordered....so poo on you.

Once I had a customer on the line who swore up and down that they were on cingular.com when they were on some 3rd party site.
I honestley think they thought they were on our website.
My suggestion, got to cingular.com and verify that it is the same site.

as long as cingular is www.cingular.com 🙂 yes it was cingulars site, and it was the 1-866-CINGULAR number where we talked to numerous folks.

huh? We talked to cingular twice and they said that we most likely got that e-mail by mistake. Should I stay with T-Mo for another year, should I get cingular at a 3rd party local/site, a local cingular store, or just order online from cingular again?

Call 1866 296 5564, and check the status of your order. If they cannot find it, then have them run a credit check, which for you will just be a duplicate application for 90 days. Then they can match the cing.com prices.
If you have a deposit they will tell you, if your order is on its way or delayed for any reason, they will tell you, and if you need to replace your order they will replace it for you.
if you have the account # or can get it, I can tell you more. e-mail me at [email protected] and i will find out for you.
just post here telling me that you e-mailed me otherwise I wont check it.

If I were you, I would go into a local store. I originally signed up with Cingular back in Nov 2004 and I signed up online. Didn't like the phone I ordered and wanted to exchange it and later found out I could only exchange it by mail (thought I could do that at a local store, not true). But the only way to trade or exchange it was by mail. My next phone, I bought from my local Cingular store, so that way if I wanted to exchange it I could just go back into the store (within the 30-day time-frame) along with all the packaging and receipt.

IMHO, at least for me, its better to go into a store rather than talk to a rep over the phone. Better to deal with these issues on a more face to face level, appropriately.
