Any one know about burning out a sim chip?!
My nephew security locks his LG 1300, but when he tried to use his password it wouldn't take it. he tried it 3x, then it asked for a PUK code (I have no idea what that is). He then entered his password again 2x and the phone said SIM blocked, can only make SOS calls?

NOW WHAT?! 😕

Now you have to get his SIM card replaced. Whenever it asks for a PUK code you can get that from the service provider by calling customer service. After the wrong PUK code is entered a few times the SIM card becomes disabled. All the information on that SIM card is now gone as well.

If the wrong security code is entered too many times it asks for a PUK code. 90% of the time a person does it when they're trying to change their security code from the default to a personal one, without reading the manual to see what the default code is. If it was already changed, then they must've forgotten what it was changed to.

When you get a new SIM card I don't believe it will change the security code on the phone. PIN codes, however, are stored on the SIM and reset with a replacement. If the problem arises again, call in for the PUK. After you enter the PUK it requires you to change your PIN code at that point.

hey there...
PUK = Personal Unlock Key. When you see this request on the phone screent, STOP. Call your service provider and they will get the PUK code for you.

No, Acutally, it means PIN UNLOCK CODE. This is the exact terminology for it. Trust me, I work with both Cingular and Former AT&T Wireless accounts. And yes, when you receive the request for the PUK code, you have to call customer care to get the code. If you enter it 10 times incorrectly, the SIM is destroyed.
