PTT? what is the big deal?

OK, So I keep hearing people in my area and people on this site wondering when Cingular will get PTT. Can someone please present a good argument on how you think PTT is more efficient or better than just regular cell service? Because from what I can see, PTT is so annoying and inefficient. You have to wait for that stupid chirp and then talk, then wait for them to get it and then wait for them to chirp and talk back. It just seems like a little kids game to me (you know, back in the day when I got my army man combat set for christmas and my brother and I played with those walky-talkies for days) I dunno, this is more of a general wonder on what all of your opinions are thanks guys and gals

it's a business solution, not an average end user solution. that's what mobile to mobile is for. the advantage to it is group calling. if a boss needs to let 15 drivers know that they have to come back for something, BAM! - there you are.

I guess so... When I hear about people in my area wanting PTT, they think it's going to be on a grand scale, mass produced for every consumer, do you personally think that PTT will be used by more than 50% of Cingular's users?

The big deal, at least for me, is that none of the Cingular phones work with the flip closed or the speaker phone can't be activated with just the touch of a button. I used to have a Nextel phone and all I had to do was press one button to activate the speaker phone on my "closed phone", scroll through some contacts, and then push to talk to contact the person on the PTT. Then I can talk to that person with the flip closed and on speakerphone. It is the most convenient way to converse with people and the PTT speaker phones usually have the best speakerphones. Cingular has never had a phone that can be answered by speaker phone with the touch of a button and in the case of a flip phone, without opening the flip. Hopefully, the times are ...
