HELP! Need contract questions answered.

ATTWStoCingular

My mother has Cingular, but she doesn't use her phone much.
She was a long time ATT customer, then migrated over to Cingular. When they migrated her over, she was supposed to be put on a 2yr contract. But the CSR that did the migration, made a mistake. The system shows her as not being on contract. So I called Cingular...had a few words with a customer care agent...he was not going to make any changes to her account but was going to make notes of what he noticed. So the question is... I want to port her number over from Cingular to my carrier and my plan, what will she be charged? (This is in NY area)

Thanks for any help anyone can offer...

First I'd go into a store, and actually ask a rep. I love customer care, but sometimes there is just no substitute for that live person who can actually show you whether there is or is not a contract. If there isn't a contract (the rep will be able to see it right on their screen) then you should be fine to port out. If there is a contract, then yes you'll have to pay the ETF fee's...

what the hell?

If you want her to go to your plan, and they say she's NOT on a contract then why argue with them??? Get the reps name and ID number and thats do what you gotta do!

Well Lets see if anyone else can help...

Here are some more details about the situation...

Once the porting is initiated by SPRINT what will Cingular do since the system shows she is not on Contract, will a manager see it and say she should be on contract and charge my mother an ETF? She was charged the $18 migration fee when she changed from ATTWS to Cingular, she got the Moto V551 for $149. Hopefully someone can provide me with some more info. Thanks

nobody will look at the account unless you were to call them up. the system automatically cancels the account as the port processes.
