yeah, well Verizon is good too. They have a realiable network as well. But I don't care for the phone selection. I really prefer having a GSM handset. I do like Verizon too. My first choice is Cingular, then Verizon comes in second.

Why a GSM handset over a CDMA?

GSM is better because you get a SIM card which means you can switch you phone anytime you want. I bought an unlocked GSM phone off of Ebay that was originally for Cingular and I used it with T-Mobile. With CDMA you can't do that.

I am a sales rep for Alltel(CDMA Carrier) and I have activated Verizon phones on ALltel's network..I will tell you a little secret, I did not have to unlock it. Also, I have activated an AT&T TDMA phone on Alltel's network. Do not ask me why I did it, but you can say I was bored and a customer asked me too..so I did it and it has worked well over a year now 🙂

I want the V551! It is actually better than the V300!!!

If I get hired by Cingular I think I will go with the Moto RAZR. BUT It is a tie for me between the Moto V551 and the RAZR.

My other favorite Cingular phone is the Nokia 3120. I think it is the best candy-bar phone out there!

Why would you keep going with over priced buged MOTO's? The 551 and the V3 are the biggest waist of money ever. You know how how many customers we have lost due to the crappyness of the 551? Step up take of your dress stop rideing the coat tails of motorola that you have been programed to ride and step up to a real phone like the sony s710 or the nokia 6682. The only reason why you wont change is because you are to big of a boner to switch to a new OS. The camera's are VGA's the bluetooth is crippled and there hinge's break. Man ball up and stop sucking moto's milk and be a man. You slay me fairy.

It would help if they actually still had the 6682.

Hmm, great call dude. A real phone like the S710 or the Nokia 6682... since everyone has 300 bones to drop on a phone...

Actually the "predecessor" to the V551 is the V500.

Thanks man. There can be more than one predecessor. The V600 was discontinued, and the 551 came out almost immediately after that. The 500 and the 600 were, while only for a short time, available together.

Get ready for another letdown. It doesn't seem you are fit to pass whatever test these wireless carriers give you on the pre-employment screening. Please get some mental help. I'm afraid you might kill yourself if you don't get this job...

read his posts in the T-Mobile forum...he isn't very stable.

He's apparently applied, judging from another of his posts. He became a Cingular fanboy when he applied for T-Mobile and was turned down. And now he's claiming that he never applied for T-Mobile. 🙄

i would beg to differ.
im not going to say they suck or their service is horrible because really it isnt, its just second best. i personally think verizon is the best, and im not just saying that. i'm a little bit of a nerd and i wanted to see if verizons claim was true, so i got one phone from each carrier and went all around south jersey with them. i probably made close to 200 calls, and their gsm isn't as clear as verizon's cdma. with cingulars network even if you had full service there would still be some static and some works would sound distorted, and this happened in just about every call. verizon did prove to be number one with no dropped calls, and no dead area's. cingular came ina close second with only 4 dead zones, (when i say d...

Also cing. just started there GSM on the east coast 2 1/2 years ago. vers. has had cdma for 9+ years. Think about it if our network is that good in 2 years what will it be like in 9?

9 years GSM will be dead. GSM is a dead end technology and will be changing to UMTS which is a completely different technology that requires a new build.

I doubt GSM will be dead, it will probably just be like analog is today. We'll get old fogeys coming in in 9 years with an old GSM phone saying "these new puppies pick up GSM?" and I'll be saying "No sir the FCC requires that to be taken down in 2020, but these new phones..."

WCDMA and UMTS are the same technology. Interchangable names. UMTS surfaced after people were getting confused between WCDMA and CDMA, because they are different.

Based on the first post, this is probably going to be on of the most asinine discussions ever seen (or maybe it's a regular occurence around here?)...anyway to have this removed? It's definitely not a discussion that's headed anywhere, and it increases the clutter, making it more difficult to find useful posts.

I actually read a few of those i wouldn't say number one posts, and they're just barely better.
