Using a TDMA phone on another network than the origin one: do-able?

I've had an offer for a motorola v60 TDMA, and I'd be interested to buy it. However, I am living my last years in Canada, and intend to cross in the US. So, basically, this phone is a Rogers, and I was wondering if I could get it activated on Cingular (they still got the TDMA network, right?)
