V400 and $ in my pocket, or V600?

Really need some help in this - I'm going to make the switch to Cingular soon - and need to decide what phone to go with.

What real benefits are there with the v600 that the v400 doesn't have?

Also, I'm concerned about reception in my apartment - if I sign a contract with Cingular - is there anyway to back out right away or to test a phone out at my house and around my city? If not, the 2 year commitment to get the good rebaate with the V600 seems a little daunting.

Any answers to these concerns would be a big help - I know you guys in here have a lot more answers than me.

basic differences between the 2 is:
v600 has video player, bluetooth capable, and a light thing on the outside which blinks differently for different groups that call. for more differences, this site has both phones features listed and you can compare them side by side. here's the link:

also: cingular has a 15 day return policy, so yes, you can try it out to ake sure it works

Thanks for the info - i was unaware of the 15 day return policy. I think I'll definitely give it a try now - it can't hurt.

Sounds like the differences are mostly in the advanced features - so I might go cheap and go for the v400.

I heard battery life was a concern with these phones - anyone know if that is true?

i have a v400 and i charge it 60 minutes a day while on my way to and from work, and its always got a full charge. if you use the camera a lot and the games and stuff, the battery will go faster, but it's pretty good in my opinion.

Moto states 7 hours talk, 220 hours standby. Of course, if you're using intense features like the animated wallpapers, screen savers, camera, etc. you will experience much lower numbers.

The main difference I would be concerned with (unless for some reason you need to be able to watch video clips on your phone) is bluetooth. It's a pretty handy little feature to have if you ever use a headset, or especially if you have one of the new luxury cars that have built in bluetooth handsfree built in to the car. With it you can receive and make (via voice dialing) phone calls with a headset that's not attached to the phone (within a pretty good distance) so, for instance, you could leave your phone in your gym bag in the trunk, and still make and receive phone calls. If you have no use/desire for bluetooth and don't have a huge preference as to the looks of the v600, though, the v400 has all the other basic functionality. (if you re...
