This may sound like a strange question, but...

I was wondering if we get charged min's during peak time when dialing voicemail from your mobile phone.

Technically yes.

All markets vary as to whether they actually do count them.

In what area are you?

I work in the Ocean Springs Call Center in the southeast region, which handles NY (dont ask, I don't know why being as NY is in the NorthEast). From my knowledge, I do know that calling vm during peak hours does go against your minutes. Some might say "But what if I dial my own phone number instead of pressing and holding down the 1 key?" Alot of people think they can cheat the system and just do it that way in hopes of getting the mobile to mobile discount, being as your own number is a Cingular number. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. Anytime you access your voicemail during the day time and you let it go past 30 seconds of voice time, it will go against your minutes.

Really? In the CA/NV market we change the customer's VM number manually and it is counted in the system as mobile to mobile. (I work at a store not in a call center)

If you have M2M on your plan, then no minutes are being used. If your worried about it though, you can call your cell number from a land line and when you hear your outgoing message hit * and enter your code. It's totally free that way.

It does use your minutes to check vm. you aren't calling another cingular phone, you are calling into a pilot number on a voicemail platform, so it's not rated as m2m (kind of like making a call thru voice connect. even if you dial a cingular number with it, the call is actually routed thru the VC system, so it doesn't rate as m2m either..tricky cingular....) It was billing like that in some markets, but i think they corrected it to where it isn't considered m2m nationwide now.
