I just had a nextel number ported to cingular about a week ago. Now i've received a call from nextel trying to save me to go back to them, i explained to them a few times that i do no want to do this and that i thought it was illegal for them to do this after my number was ported. what is the deal? is it only illegal for saves during a port or even after completion. I mean this was not a call that i started with nextel, they called me at home.

thanks

yea good question.. i know in "mid" port you cannot do a thing.. but i don't see the harm in trying to get them back after they left.. my guess it would be treated as if someone just canceled all together with good ole retention call...

thanks, i guess you are probably correct, she said that she was a part of a bigger department that only makes phone calls to try to save customers that have left. when i asked if it was illegal of course she said no.

It would make sense, Cingy gives you a so many day free trial to see if you like the service so I would think it only common that Sprint-Nextel would be calling you during that time saying, "Please, please, you know you like us better even though our service costs as much as a car payment!"

Nextel has done several things that are in fact illegal when it comes to ports. I had a customer call up to ask for her account number so we could do a port, and they (and when I say they, we went up 3 levels of management.. supposely anyway.) all refused point blank to give her, her own account number or anything else about her account claiming it was a privacy issue. When I told the last guy (who refused to even give us his first name) it was illegal to try and stop a port in such a manner I got hung up on. I reported it to the FCC, but of course they won't bother if it's just one complaint. Hopefully they'll start to get more and more complaints and might actually look into it one day.
