i have a Moto V220 for cingular and i was just wondering if anyone knew how to unlock it without having to call c/s because i have no cingular serivce in my house and theres a t-mobile tower down the street. i just wanted to see if a could get service from that tower without being charged roaming. thanks 🙂

You can try to contact Moto customer service via their website to get it.... the only tried and true way is to contact Cing CC 1800-331-0500 and request sub unlock code for the phone. It takes 5-7 business days to get that from Moto and you will be contacted as soon as Cing gets that inf returned for you.

you've got the long time customer thing going for you. the only prob is that unlocking the phone will let it accept sim cards from other carriers other than Cing. Cingular does have roaming agreements with TM so you should be able to access that tower as long as it is directional towards you, that is they can direct the way they want that tower to pick up phone signals. How often do you turn the phone all the way off and re-register to the network?

Do that 3-5 times per week to register to the network and you will continur to get the updates that are required to keep your phone working.
