That's only 18 cities/surrounding areas. Cingular isn't a company to promise something (especially when it comes to network rollouts) and not follow through. So where are the other two (or more) cities?

Oh, and where did you get this list?

Probably a stupid question, but what's UMTS/HSDPA?

Either way, what does "Central South Texas" cover? I may be living there and have been having the worst time with my service. When I call CS, they say nothing's wrong in my area, but many people are having the same problem. If they're upgrading, I'll stay with Cingular. I'd like to know in 13 days though because I just signed a 2 year contract with Sprint. So far, reception is pretty good. I didn't really get to use my phone much today, I'll really try it out tomorrow. Customer Service though has stank. Cingular's many times better than Sprint, from my experiences.

That is the 3G upgrade for GSM networks. Comparable to the EVDO that is currently available for Verizon and coming to Sprint very soon.

No, it is Data + Voice. EV-DO is Data only. DO stands for Data Only. Verizon is still using 1xRTT and vanilla CDMA for voice.

EV-Do does data better than UMTS right now but that will change when Cingular software upgrades into HSDPA.
